Hi everyone, got a question for you.

Recently I had to format my hdd and re-install Win2k. Prior to this I was using Dvd Shrink to encode and burn my dvd's. The burning process did so at 4x. After the install it's only going to 1x. I've reinstalled Nero and this is burning fine at 4x.

I'm using the exact same blank media and dvd shrink v3.1.7 (as before). Anyone had this type of problem before and know how to fix?

Sound like Windows is putting the computer into PIO Mode. This happens when Windows gets 5 or more errors. It slows the burner down 1 notch and keeps going until you are in PIO. Go into Device Manager and look Under Sec. IDE settings and see if the burner is in PIO. If it is you can either manually change it to DMA or un-install the Channel and re-boot and then let Windows re-install it.
You stated that you formatted the HD. Was this a Low-level format? You might also get a registry cleaner and let it clean up your registry files. Make sure first that it backs up the registry before the cleanup.
You have conflicts somewhere and hopefully this will help. If not come back and maybe someone else has a better Idea
