Hey ya'll (Texas style)
I have been backing up my DVD's with shrink for 3 months. This program rips and burns as well(I don't need NERO) I have not heard anyone say the same. Can you comment
2) on my other computer the burn has stopped working that is I cannot find the DVD writer any longer as a target drive. Any help

I've said you don't need Nero. And Shrink doesn't burn, not by itself. It needs Nero or DVD Decrypter to burn.
On your other pc, can you burn with any other programs?

Hey nedepper(tennessee drawl), Welcome to AD. Do you burn with decrypter? Shrink can't burn on it's own. On your other PC what were you using to burn with shrink?

I had loded decrypter during the original installment of shrink. Somehow during defrag I can no longer burn. I have burned with Nero which is easy but a little more effort.
Do you think i should regedit shrink and reinstall both programs

I don't understand I have burned with Nero which is easy but a little more effort.. What effort? You don't even open Nero, you just enable burning with Nero in shrink and that's it. What effort are we talking about here?

I have had to separatley open Nero, find the foldera and copy all the files. For the first few copies despite I believe copying all the video_TS files , the copies did not work
Maybe I am confused but how do you enable Nero to work from within shrink. Thanks for your help

nedepper, go to "Edit >> Preferences >> File I/O" and select "Enable Burning With Nero". ;)
If this checkbox is greyed-out you will probably have to re-install Nero.
Re-installing DVD Decrypter should also fix your other problem. ;)

For the first few copies despite I believe copying all the video_TS files , the copies did not work
nedepper, for future reference, if you do have to go burn in Nero using another app, open burn express(right below burning rom in startsmart). Open another window where your file is, click and drag the entire folder(do not open it!)into the VIDEO_TS folder in express. Ignore the AUDIO_TS folder. Hit next and burn.
this eliminates your "believing you copied all the files" theory, this way you will copy ALL the files.

Hey There(NY Style)why not try and reinstall the latest DVD Decrypter back up the dvd's with shrink (as a ISO) and check Burn with DVD Decrypter.See if thst works for you.when I first started useing DVD Decrypter I had to reinstall it becase of a minor problem I had with Win XP and the Aspi layer.

bigorange, I'm not a Nero Express user (I prefer using Burning ROM), but the following has me puzzled...

ddlooping, absolutely not, do it all the time, express will take the files it needs when you add the folder and burn it to the disc. Try it, you'll see it works..

Ok, so I guess Express has a feature that will re-arrange the files so they are DVD-compliant.

Ya didn't believe me Huh? TSK TSK TSK oh ye of little faith.
I used to use B rom, but I think express is so much easier, altho there are times when rom suits my purpose better, it has more advanced features and supports more formats.

I now know what happened
I have a 100 GB hard drive partitioned into c(15GB) and D(85GB)...uhhh
anyway ,this escaped me for awhile, thus when I moved everything in D, many programs failed..including nero
I was not able to enable Nero or my TDK writer with
edit:preferences was greyed out!
I moved em back to c and voila...all work
Why are ya'll down on roxio? Does it wirk with shrink?
Is DVD 43 useless or usefule?
Is the new decrypter better and last
Our Astros are last as well

Roxio is fine on its own but it conflicts with some similarly purposed software to the detriment of your operating system.
For most people with slower systems DVD43's not useless but it's also not helpful.If you can achieve higher speeds ripping to your hard disk first then what's the point.
Each new Decrypter is better in some way go here and you can read its change log.

flip, nedepper, Braves lost to Philly, now tied for 1st. Which is amazing considering where they were 3-4 weeks ago.
nedepper, try Anydvd in place of DVD43, same principle, much better app.
