I'm currently running emule, but I would like to run both emule and bit torrent concurrently on same machine, what's the implications if any of doing this?
I know it sounds crazy, but emule serves me well for rarer items, but bt sounds like it would help with the lack of newer things I would like to get hold of.
Thanks,
I decided to go ahead and run them concurrently.
I've always been an emule user, but I have to admit that bt is very impressive.
At the moment there running very well together. If anyone's intrested. Getting good speed from BT, eMule is about the same. May switch to BT only in the future when I've located best places to find the kind of things I'm intrested in downloading. But at the moment I'm getting best of both worlds.
Who told you there was going to be a problem running BT and Emule at the same time?
However, instead of using eMule, I would recommend Overnet. Amd if you share as much as I do, it's like eMule on speed. Lots of speed. It gives high speeds straight away, even on unpopular files. (Just remember not to change the max connections setting, setting it at 60+ will destroy your download speed)
As for BT, what client do you use? I recommend Azureus, simply because it's the best client I've used.
Just remember reading about different p2p having problems running together, may have been kazza & emule, cant remember. Add that to problems that different clients have working well with different firewalls etc.
I may investigate overnet, but I have to admit I do like emule, and I do share ALOT, and my system is up 24/7. Can take long to get things sometimes but, I can usually wait I guess, always other things to be getting on with.
I use Azureus which seems to do the job well with the plugins that are available for it.
