I tried a search and couldnt find a area to post so ill try new...please point me in the right direction if this has been talked about before.
I have had shrink 3.2 installed for a bit and was working perfectly for awile...until last night.
Suddenly and recently when i try to use the program it crashes. Im no computer expert but it looks like it is trying to change the resolution. (basically i activate the program and it blanks the screen for some reason. The only way i can get back in is a reset.) No other program i tested causes the same problem.
I have reinstalled it, used 3.1.2 version and system backed up a day and the problem persists.
Is this a common problem or is there another program conflicting with it? I have shrink 3.2 on another computer and it is having no problems at all.
I can get Shrink on screen after a reset... (or hibernate reset on microsoft media edition)..and it works fine if i dont move the program window..(If i do so then the screen goes blank just like when i start the program up.).
i reinstalled directx 9.0b as suggested in other areas of the board.....Still blanks out the screen and it now adds a new problem...
(when i hibernate under Microsoft media edition and bring the system back the shrink program seems to operate....now when i press..."open disk" i get a new error....)
It tells me that Shrink is not accessing ASPI layer. So i go on Adeptec site and scan my ASPI files in windows and it says i have up to date files.
I reinstall Shrink thinking it didnt grab on to my new Directx 9.0b install but it still acts up. ARGH! (How am i going to backup Dvd's now?)
The only think i can think of doing that might of effected it was the install of gigbyte binary newsreader (which i uninstalled.) It added a number of .Dll files that could of caused conflict.
But its still confusing as i did a system restore back an entire week before i installed GB newsreader and to a point when i knew Shrink was working....and it STILL DOES not WORK.
I know im probably not explaining this right but im giving it a shot. Hopefully someone will understand.
