I did search to see if my question had been answered and couldn't find anything specific enough to help me fix my problem.

I downloaded two BT movie files via Azureus - each about 25 minutes - and both WERE playable. In fact, I watched them in their entireties using DivX 5.2 player.

Once I closed them and closed out of the folder they were in, I opened the folder back up to let my sisters watch but now they're in Bittorrent format - what I mean is that they used to come up as Real player icons (and when I wanted to open them in DivX, I'd just right-click > Open with > DivX because that was the best program to use for these files with the lag and all) but now they come up with the blue A icon used for Azureus Bittorrent files and when I double-click them (not opening them with DivX) it acts like I'm trying to download them instead of watch them with the whole "save in ___ folder" thing.

When I try to open them in DivX, it says something like "Check to make sure this is an acceptable MPEG 4 or AVI file"

If I knew how to save video files as certain formats I would but I don't know how.

Nevermind, I feel positively idiotic - I was trying to play my upload files instead of the downloaded ones.

BUT...now I have another question. Is there seeding after renaming? What I mean is, can I continue seeding a file after I've renamed it?

As long as it has the torrent exstension, it is literally the same file. Anyway, why would you want to rename it in any case?

I just don't like how some files are named [#$%*]one_two_three_[#$%*] with all the extra stuff like brackets and underscores - it looks messy to me. I like the names of my files to be neat and instantly understandable.

I see what you mean. I ususally rename them too. I don't have any problems after renaming though. All torrent files are supposed to be "hashed", so they're safe and you can download the actual file that's being seeded/distrubited instead of just the "name"

I understand now. I was confused about the whole torrent file/actual file thing. I get it all now. Thanks tons!
