Now that 321 Studios is out of business, I went to their web site and went to support/faq and saw that you can activate from another computer that doesn't have 321 software on it. It'll put it on a floppy. Am I reading this right? Could be a roundabout way of getting the code to us? Just wondering.

I'm reading it as a blank floppy and then using your password/license ID the activation code will download to the floppy. I've visited the faq before and I don't ever remember this part of the floppy being their before.Did you check it out? I may be misreading this. I have another computer upstairs that doesn't have platinum on it so I can try tomorrow to see if I get anything on the floppy. I just finished redoing my hard drive last week and re-activating platinum and rf so I don't want to test it in case The activations are no more.

I'll try tomorrow. Remember it says no 321 software on computer so maybe it automatically goes to a floppy. My wife's doesn't have any on it. As for using the floppy maybe it has an installation or just place it in the platinum folder, double click and reboot. Just a thought. If someone will check to see if activations are still going on today Tues. August 3rd, I'll test the whole thing out,so if I'm barking up the wrong tree I can reactivate my software.

When you use the floppy it downloads an activation file that takes you to a website and then downloads a .reg file that you save back to the floppy, to take back to your PC with the 321 software installed onit. this makes a change to the settings in your registry so that you are not prompted for the activation any longer. The problem I have found with the DVDxMaker software is when I try to user the activation file I get a message that says this product cannot be activated at this time.

321 studios products can be activated at http://www.nycsoftware.com , also the software can be downloaded at that site , so the answer for the those who want to reformat or replace a hard drive is yes you can still activate your product , the activations have been reset to 10 for all legit owners of this software , the rf version of xcopy can be still downloaded at http://321studios.com/support.asp

As of today you can activate online and if you choose activate from another computer you can put the activation file on a floppy. Do this for all ye product and get several activations and rename them so you can save them on the same media. It appears that they gave us up to 75 activations today but you should be able to clone the same activation. This way if you format you can still activate. but you better activate today if you want to use it.
IT HAS TO BE CLEAN INSTALL OF PLATINUM..
WHEN THE REGISTRATION WINDOW COME UP ASKING FOR YE LICENSE AND PASSWORD YE SELECT REGISTER FROM ANOTHER PUTER..
NOTE YOU MUST INPUT YOUR LICENSE AND PASSWORD THEN SELECT REGISTER FROM ANOTHER PUTER,THEN FOLLOW DIRECTIONS
edit 8/4/04 ... Well that didn't last long. Activations are back to 10 or less.

I waived my pastdue, ain't gonna' get it nohow, $55.00 rebate on XCopy Xpress to download XMaker, XShow, and XPoint. XMaker activated just fine, but the software is useless to me. I got excited about XShow, but now cannot activate it. When I try to activate online, the message "(2)Could not connect to server. Please check you have a valid Internet connection. If the problem persists please contact Technical Support." I tried the "use another computer" suggestion, but double-clicking on the "ActivationFile.htm" only got me a "The page cannot be displayed". I snooped around all over the "nycsoftware" site suggested, and found no offer of activating online unless I bought the software from them. All I know to do is try again everyday, and keep checking to see if any of you come up with something that works for me. Thanks!

Thanks, Flip218.
I could not find anything to do there, so I emailed an appeal to the U.K. support address listed on that site.

I phoned UK and Ireland supports yesterday, neither of them have RF Licences yet.Lets just wait and see what happens. Its a shame I can,t save the activation code to a floppy, both my comps have Xpress and Platinum installed running fine.I wish I new about the floppy thing last week when I did a complete reformat/reinstall everything, luckly activations went fine, just had to adjust date format to US style. At least we have 75 activations left.

How bad do you want it on a floppy? I did a clean install on my other pc, just to do it.

Where do you find the info/dl to put on the floppy? I'm looking but I can't find it for DVDXCOPY, XPRESS or PLATINUM.

Thanks flip,
I saw your instructions yesterday and printed them out.I,m reluctant to do another clean install after last weeks fun & games,I guess I could use a neighbours machine with no 321 stuff on it,or would it not work because of different hardware,IP address etc? Sorry about getting steerded off at a tangent on the other thread.
Cheers ispy

Thanks Flip...
Another question...I own the Platinum version of DVD x copy. Is the activation procedure the same as platinum with the games copy? Or can I use the license numbers I already have the Platinum?

I don't know if I quite understand what your asking. Procedure will be the same, ie. online activation or activate from another computer.
Each XCopy product will have it's own license info, password will be the same.

apology for the mis-commuication...
Now that 321 Studios is gone, how do I obtain an activation for the software? Purchase one if required! Where do I go to do this?
Thank you for your time Flip.... :)
