Hello there,

I have been using Shrink for some time now and am happy with its results. I have just purchased the LG GSA-4120B burner for the sole purpose of being able to "shrink" the dvds faster, seeing as how it reads at 16x. This doesn't seem to be the case!!! Is there a setting to speed up the read/rip time? I thought I was a knowledgeable user... but after reading a lot of posts it would seem not.

I am also hearing a lot about this dvd/cce? program... what is the deal there? Is it faster, better quality??? I am an "enthusiast" who likes to be in the know! I want the best possible back-ups of my movies possible. If CCE is better where can I get???

Thanks...

P4 2.8 HT
800 fsb 1mb cache
1G Ram (3200-400mhz)

The majority of the burners are locked at 2X to read a DVD. The only way you can get faster is to use a DVD-Rom as it is not locked

DVD RebuilderCCE is super ( costs about $58.00 ) but there is a learning curve . There are guides on this forum for that program

So, would something like nero drive speed set that?

Also, I'm now using DVD Shrink 3.2 and have used the quality settings. It takes a lot longer to rip! Is this worth it?

Nope. There are hacked firmwares that unlock the read speed but they're a "do it at your own risk" deal and I'm not sure if they have tham for LG drives.

I'll second Car.Mike's advice that an inexpensive DVD ROM is a great alternative, plus it saves wear and tear on your burner.

This is a very subjective question that depends on your TV and if you yourself can notice a difference. My advice is to pick up some RW's and test various settings to see what works for you :)

Thanks for the help guys. As I said I am very happy with Shrink. It has yet to disappoint me! As for the drive speed...I think I'll settle for what it reads at now. I could always use a straight DVD Rom player to rip. I think I noticed a speed difference there.

By the way Nephilim I am impressed with your collection... here is a link to mine.

Any idea on covers??? I know that this isn't "really" the place to discuss it, but I am sorrowed by the closing of DVDCoverart and am in need of a replacement. I am trying to back up my collection and I don't have a scanner! So... I need covers!!! Especially an english version of "Naked Lunch"

Again, thanks in advance!

Outstanding collection! I haven't seen Enemy Mine or Amityville Horror for years and it's always great to see another Hellraiser fan :D

Naked Lunch kicks ass too, it was a suitably whacked out film :)

Here's a thread about covers that may help:

Thanks!

As for the info on the covers, it was helpfull. I knew about the sites listed there but was hoping to find a few extras for those high res covers! Some I guess are not as "mainstream" as the others. So it looks like I'll have to settle for the low quality on the cdcovers.cc site.

Thanks for the quick responses.. not only in this thread!!!
