Hi,
About a year ago I had someone flash my liteon.
It was the firmware version just before the LT+ came out (pre ap25).
I was looking to get the latest version on my console, but the guy who flashed it didn?t write down or give me the drive key.
I was advised to buy a 360Lizard which I have done and I am awaiting delivery.
Can someone tell me if I need to flash back to stock or soemthing (think I read that somewhere) and then flash to the latest version?
Cheers,
Al

If you're already on the latest version of the dashboard then you don't really need to flash back to stock.
If you're not on the latest version of the dashboard then flash back to stock, update to the latest dashboard version via USB, then flash to the latest LT+.

Nope.
It's easy to do though. As you don't have a backup of your original firmware or a dump of your drive key, then you'll have to do this: -
1. Dump the key
2. Flash back to stock
3. Update the dash
4. Flash to the latest LT+
The only way you can really mess it up is by getting step 1 wrong. If you don't dump the key (or you get a bad key for some reason), then you go ahead and erase your drive ready to be flashed, then you're screwed. It's a good idea IMO to dump the key a couple of times to make sure the key is the same every time you do it. Once you've got the key saved then you don't have to dump it again because you can just use your backup to create the new custom firmware, erase, then flash.

Thanks so much.
Will the lizard software ask me to dump the key?
I am bricking it in case I brick it lol
Will I have to update the dash using USB (is this incase I get banned).

Up to date software for the Lizard is here: -
http://www.360lizard.com/website/downloads.php
And the guides on how to use it are here: -
http://www.360lizard.com/website/forum.php
If you've got a fat 360 with a Lite-On drive, then download the first guide on that page (Ver 1.2 PDF Document (English)) and have a read through it. There are also videos there that you can watch too.
The Lizard is pretty foolproof and it makes flashing easier than using JungleFlasher, but it doesn't literally hold your hand through every step. For instance, it won't tell you "you have to flash back to stock first!" cos it has no way of knowing whether you need to do that or not. It does warn you several times when you go to erase your drive and you have to push a button each time to get past the warnings, so the only real way you can mess it up is by not following the guide, ignoring the warnings, and erasing the drive before you've got a dump of the drive key.
Updating the dash by USB is easier, but you don't have to do it that way. What you would do is this: -
1. Download the dashboard update from Xbox.com and put it on a USB stick.
2. Take your 360 apart, connect up the Lizard, dump the key (making sure you've got it safely backed up on your PC!), flash back to stock.
3. Connect the 360's drive back up to the 360, but don't put the case back on. Boot it up and update the dashboard from the USB stick, then shut it down again and remove the USB stick.
4. Hook the drive back up to the Lizard again and flash to the latest LT+.
5. Disconnect the Lizard, hook the DVD drive back up the 360 and put the case back on.

Awesome!
1 last question....re getting it back to stock, is there an option within the lizard app to do this or do I need to download the stock firmware and apply it?

You can do it using the firwmare packs that you download for use with the Lizard, or you can download the full firmware pack and use that. If you download the full firmware pack, it's in this folder: -
Stock Firmware - LiteOn (Phat) - LiteOn_Pre_13141
Then, in the Lizard Toolbox software, click on the CFW Generator tab, then click on Advanced View. Here you select the source and target firmware: -
Source = The firmware that you dump from your 360 that has your drive key in it.
Target = The old stock firmware from the firmware pack that you downloaded.
Once you've selected the source and target firmwares, click the "Copy data from Source to Destination" button and you should see that the correct key shows up in the lower section, then click "CFW save as..." and save the firmware. That firmware that you save is what you will use to flash back to stock.

I think LT+ 2.0 will be released any day now, but then that's just an educated guess based on c4eva saying it's completed for BenQ and Lite-On drives, with Hitachi in testing.
Once you've done your initial flash with the Lizard, subsequent flashes are much quicker because you'll already have a backup of your drive key so all you need to do is erase the drive and flash with the latest version of LT+. You don't need to hook up the probe and dump the key again, cos you only need to do that the very first time. The biggest pain is taking the 360 apart to do it, so it's up to you really. I would say that your very first flash may take about 30 minutes including taking the 360 apart and putting it back together, as long as everything goes to plan (which it will if you follow the guides), then subsequent flashes will take you considerably less than that.
What you could definitely do is get the Lizard set up. Install the USB drivers, Lizard Toolbox and the Lizard Updater, then update the Lizard itself. You can do all that without touching your Xbox, and then you can have a look through the Lizard's guide and menu system (and the Toolbox software) to get familiar with it.

Lizard Toolbox will warn you depending on which dash you are running. The Lizard itself won't.

What you want to do first is make sure that the Lizard itself is fully updated. You use the Lizard Firmware Updater app to do that. Also, make sure you have the latest version of the Lizard Toolbox software installed.
Then download the latest filesets for the Lizard and unzip them to your CFW_Templates folder: -
http://cfwfileset.blogspot.com/
The latest filesets are LT+ 2.0, plus the original firmware and an SD file pack if you want to use the Lizard in stand-alone mode.
All of the necessary guides for updating the Lizard and flashing your console are available here: -

Hi,
I am in the middle of trying to flash.
I have got my key and saved it, now I need to flash back to stock.
Do I just select original firmware in the drop down and click save CFW?
It comes up with a warning -
'Starting from dashboard 13146 all phat liteons are being updated to 02510CD. Do you want to generate the fileset for 02510CD? (choose yes if you have updated your console to dash 13146 or above)'
What the hell do I choose or do lol.
Its all lit up like a christmas tree and I dont know what to do!!!
Ok an update.
This is what I did and the outcome.
1st I used the scorpian to grab the key and saved it in a folder.
2nd I erased the drive
3rd I flashed back to stock
4th I used the USB and updated the latest dash
5th I used the scorpian again to create the LT 2.0 CFW and flashed
Now when I did the dash update a message popped up on the screen saying that there wasnt enough space/room to complete the update and I clicked ok. It then started up again and a new looking dash appeared before me.
When I flashed to 2.0 and tried again when it booted up I noticed that my avatar was blank and when I tried to customise my avatar it said I needed an update....any ideas?
I have a feeling I went wrong somewhere....trouble is how do I tell?
I played a back up of medal of honour and that was fine but assassins creed brotherhood said the disc was unreadable.
Help or advise would be great!

It sounds like you've done everything right so far!
This happened to me yesterday though, when I upgraded to LT+ 2.0: -
Originally posted by norverna: When I flashed to 2.0 and tried again when it booted up I noticed that my avatar was blank and when I tried to customise my avatar it said I needed an update....any ideas?
As I was already on the latest dash, I just erased my drive and flashed it to 2.0, but when I booted the 360 up, my avatar was just the blank stock avatar. I then tried to play a backup of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (the first XGD3 game I'd backed up) and it said I needed to do an update, which again is weird as I was already on the latest dash, but I let the update run and when the 360 rebooted my avatar was back to how it should be and everything has worked just fine since.
BTW, once you have a backup of your firmware, you don't need to use that scorpion probe thing again. From then on, you just use your firmware backup as the source, the new firmware as the target, you create the CFW, then you just erase and flash with the CFW. It's loads quicker, so make sure you keep hold of your backup and you'll never have to dump the key again on that particular 360.

You seem to spend most of your time replying to threads just to tell people to search, without saying anything of any use, but had you read this thread you'd have seen that I already linked him to the manuals on 360lizard.com - twice in fact.

When you updated the dash as promted did you connect to live to do this?
As I flashed to 2.0 wont I risk a ban by doing this?
I was reading up on this and someone else was told to do this -
__________________________________________________
Looks to me like you didn't update to 13599 dash.
clear the system memory of previous updates
Flash drive to stock, connect to live and download all the updates
verify you are on 13599
then return to LT 2.0
______________________________________________
Does this sound like I need to do this?
Regarding keeping the firmware back up as source is it the source_dummy file that you select to create the CFW?

Yeah I just found out I needed the hard drive attached...damn.
What is my best option now?
Will I have to take it all apart again and re-flash back to stock etc?

Balls....not what I wanted to hear....oh well its good practice.
Just so I get this right....
Do I have to the scorpion again to get my key?
Do I just erase and flash with the original CFW I created 1st time round, then update the dash, then flash with the lt 2.0 cfw I created?
