Try these settings: -

1. Fire up EEPROM Utility, make sure you select the correct burner, go to the Options tab and hit the "Clear OPC History" button.

2. On the same tab, check the boxes next to Smart Burn and Force Hyper Tuning. UNcheck the boxes next to Over Speed Writing and Online Hyper Tuning. Exit EEPROM Utility and power cycle the drive (turn your PC off, then back on).

3. In ImgBurn, go to Tools - Settings... - Write (tab) and UNcheck the box next to "Perform OPC Before Write" and hit OK.

4. Burn at 4X.

These settings were recommended to me by Lightning UK, the creator of ImgBurn, and they've given me the best results with MKM-003-00 discs - and most importantly, the results have been consistently excellent. When I was using other settings, I'd get some great burns and some crap ones that wouldn't even verify.

Follow those 4 steps exactly and then post another KProbe scan. EDIT - Oh yeah, you only need to perform steps 1-3 once. After that, as long as everything is good you can just burn at 4X as normal.

For some strange reason its taken 40 mins to burn at 4x speed.I kept getting buffers waiting to recover.Just verifying now.

Usually that means you need to defragment your hard drive and/or stop applications running that need to access the hard drive when you're burning a disc.

The only thing I can think of is to clear the OPC history again and then power cycle the drive and then make sure perform OPC before write is NOT checked in imgburn before you burn another copy.

Were you doing something else on the PC while you were burning the disc? It's not good if the buffers are constantly dropping and waiting to recover, so something isn't right there.

I just let it burn without doing anything.Closed all apps i could think of that would have an effect on the burn.Going to attempt adding the new results now

Most of that seems good apart from the 50% mark which is way too high

What do you think it is then? Should i disconnect my other burners whilst burning to see if it makes a difference?

You could try that as a test and defrag the hard drive. I just got my verbs now so I'll try burning a game and post my results.

Hmm, that's still not great. Better than what you were getting though!

BTW, if you click the little floppy disc icon at the top of the program window after your scan is complete, you can save a PNG file of the results instead of manually taking a screen shot, for example: -

It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for those spikes at the layerbreak, although there are a couple of other high PIF spike areas - that little peak before the layerbreak spikes for instance.

Are the discs legit Verbatim? It sounds like you had your doubts in a post above. I'm just trying to rule that out as a cause, as it's possible to fake the media ID on discs to make them appear to be something they're not.

Also, the buffer issue you mentioned above is a concern. I assume the drive that the ISO is stored on is internal and not external and connected via USB or something? Also, if you're running antivirus software (or other security software with an active component), have you tried disabling that temporarily to see if it makes a difference? Have you tried defragmenting the drive?

I suppose another thing you could try is cross-flashing the drive to a 524. It shouldn't make a difference really, but as the 524 uses a different firmware to the 124, there may be a difference in the write strategies and I'd certainly give it a go if you've tried everything else.

Cheers for the info.I defrag my hdd every night.Even disabled my network adapter and turned off all security and other programs and got the result which you mentioned in your last post. The verbs came from a guy who "Can Get Anything" according to him.Thought it was strange when i paid £10 for 25 verbs. Will report back when my verbs come from my reliable ebay seller.

Sent you a PM. Let us know how you get on when you get the discs.

EDIT: I don't know how funksoulb is getting results that good I'm fairly sure I have my settings the exact same in the EEPROM utility and imgburn.

That's about the same price I paid for a 25 pack of RITEK so that does sound dodgy my verbs cost me 26 euro for a 25 pack (26 euro = £22.23) and my RITEK ones were 12 euro which is £10.26 meaning my cheap discs were still 26p more than your verbs :)
