bought to flash with burner max, tried to flash following the tutorial but now green led flashes and locks up my pc.
Pc wont see unless i take power out and put back in which temp stops the green led flash and then pc can see but cant get it to work, after a time pc cant see again and constant green led flash.
i have tried to find an answer, i beleive i may need to boot pc into ide mode to flash successfully but i run a RAID0 on my pc and dont have any spare hdd.
Has anyone got a solution because I am close to lobbing it in the bin.

Instead of messing with your comp just bring it to a friends or family members house and use there comp. Im sure you know someone close that you can go there and they have there comp just set up normaly. Your only going to flash it and it will only take 3 mins.

Did you leave a disc in the drive by any chance?

Like nw360guy said your best option is a friends comp, if they will let you go inside there comp to do it. Many will not allow you to open it up. If not then your other option is bartpe from usb. I keep a bootable xp usb drive for these very kind of things.

Thanks everyone, I am going to try and have a look down the bootable usb drive option as I dont have anyone with a spare hdd or pc that i can use seems a bit of a nitemare to buy an ide hdd just for this purpose. i can try and flash in windows atm but when the flash program gets to 100% it just sits there on 100% and says "programming" and wont complete.

You don't want a bootable for installing with. You want a live environment.
There is also a dos option called XSF. If you attempt to use it be very careful, it can kill the drive.

If I remember right that is for running linux live distro from inside windows. Here is a good link to what I mean by live environment. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/windows-pocket,1113.html Thats how I setup my usb flash drive so it boots as windows xp from the flash drive. With it the system doesn't even need a hard drive.

Thank you very much for the advice, much appreciated.
I have sucessfully made windows xp boot from a usb stick and I put all of the firmware i needed on there and booted in IDE mode.
At first was looking good, I just wanted to get the drive in a working condition to begin with so I flashed it with the AL0S.EXE the sofware said that the drive had been sucessfully updated so I booted back into windows 7 on my RAID to see if the drive worked...
Windows said found new hardware and saw the drive but when I put a cd in it would not read it and then eventually drive cannot be seen by windows anymore and is constantly making a read noise and led flashing, eject button not working.... sounds pretty screwed to me :(
Edit.. I have basically done as in the vid from this following link... thing is it says that the drive is flashed sucessfully it's just that it doesnt work

I've seen this problem with a bad SATA cable before. Try using a different SATA cable or different SATA port and see if the drive functions normally.

can you flash it back to stock? When you originally flashed to max firmware u have to go through the process of backing up your stock firmware.Throw the whole flashing program, your original dump and the max firmware onto a flash drive. Now see if you can do the whole process with a different machine and then install back to you setup and see if it picks up the drive.

It's worth giving a dos flasher a try. Did the drive work properly before you flashed burner max?

This is the thing, I haven't even tested the drive to see if it worked properly out of the box. I just stuck it in the pc, downloaded the BurnerMax FW, followed the pdf guide with the fw and here we are.

Right then I am going to try and boot into DOS and use MTKflash to flash the Burnermax firmware onto the drive (not sure if I have still got the original Al0s.bin dump, may have been overwritten by a copy of the bad fw flash)

Did you update to the latest firmware first? Since stock fw isn't working you could try crossflashing to an ihas524b and see if it works just as a test http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152...eatures-915138/
If not you've got nothing to lose just flash back to stock again. Do you have any other SATA cd / hard drives in the computer?

I have no other cd drives apart from my old Pioneer IDE which I have now fully disconnected, when I have been flashing from Windows XP from bootalbe usb my 2 x Raided HDD have been unplugged.
I am going to boot into MSDOS now and try to flash the drive from there, if that is a no go most likely will bin it, it was £14.99 and has cost me way too much time and hassle already :)
** EDIT :- Tried MTKFLASH from MSDOS = tried to flash the BurnerMax FW from there... typed in the command, as soon as I did the drive started flashing the led, mtflash wouldnt confirm the flash just locked up, has to press escape in the end, said error due to device status being "00" instead of "70"

So what's happening is the drive will function temporarily then the LED will start flashing then the drive just won't respond at all and locks up windows - is that right?
EDIT: Have you made a backup of your EEPROM? if so have you tried restoring it?

If I start the PC from being turned off the bios recognises the drive... goes into windows, the device manager and windows explorer can see the drive.. if I try to open the drive to put a cd in it then it will start having its led flashing fit and not recognise that a disc is in the tray and then will disappear from view by windows, the led of the dvd drive and the HDD led of my computer flash alternately when this happens.
Same if I try to use any of the updating or flashing software, if the drive hasn't been touched or opened will see the drive and say that is flashing or reading, my suspicion though is that nothing is being sucessfully written to it at all.

I just edited my post try to restore the EEPROM to the drive if you made a backup. Sounds like something a drive would do that can't read a disc but if it's only new it can't be that.

The drive picked up fine.i run mine through a laptop, molex power supply and sata to usb adapter.what are your system specs and setup and op system?
do you have any other sata devices and are they onboard sata or sata card?
ive just done sone research on the subject, some very sketchy ways of recovering.I came across this article a min ago http://club.myce.com/f105/howto-flash-f...-writer-231217/ i know it says samsung but the process will be similar.Other than that im out of ideas.

To be honest my suspicions are that it was faulty from day one. cant really send it back now, well could flash back std fw and try maybe

I got an ihas324b and done the exact same as you mentioned and never tested it but it worked ok. You'll probably need to find someone that will let you try the drive in their pc and if it fails try to send it back for a replacement if nothing else is working.

Thanks everyone for your help with this, great to see people taking time out to try and help.
After everything I have come to the conclusion (after what that steo2k8) said, that the drive is actually physically faulty.
Everytime I flash it in windows it says that it has been sucesfully flashed... I just flashed the AL05.exe again and all worked fine and did a restart.
As I have never actually used the drive previously or read a disk with it I think the whole flashing thing has sent me on a massive tangent and the fact is that the drive has been dispached to me with a physical error regarding reading discs.
I am going to return the drive and I am confident the replacement will be fine.... fingers crossed.
