I'm thinking of buying this burner for burning XGD3 games http://www.flipkart.com/liteon-ihas122-...ODDEUDDZ2N9QCZF
But I came across the following comment on the page:
Quote: best ihas drive for burning xbox 360 games,as it takes less time in burning n if u get error while verifying just click on CANCEL n ur ready 2 play but burnermax payload tool should be enabled, burnt gow:judgement n works like charm!
cons: for burning FIFA 13 n FORZA4 u need modded ihas drive! i tried 2 burn forza also but no success with this drive n payload tool enabled
So should I go ahead and buy this drive?

Avoid at all costs
Stopped working after two days, Just makes the PC freeze when a disc is loaded. The packing was atrocious and performance even worse. Flipkart should stop featuring such products on their website - brings them a bad name. Now I have to battle with Flipkart and reseller to get a replacement. Will stick to LG optical drivers hereafter. They last att least a couple of years.
After calls to Flipkart I get the message that the distributor has refused to give a replacement and that I should approach the manufacturer. There goes Rs.1,000 down the drain. A big thumbs down to LiteOn. Went and purchased an LGR drive from the local retailers. Workks without a hitch.

WOW ... this is great from the OEM,,,,,,,, it has limited bundeled software... however the product quality is so great......... also this is somewhat light and perhaps brittle... however being an internal drive such things doesnt matter

The IHAS 124 should do the trick should be revision B,just ask before purchase as i personally prefer flashing to burnermax instead of using the payload tool.According to converting your currency into pounds sterling it equates to just over £10.00.Now that's pretty good.
Compatible drives list for burnermax payload here:
http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthre...l-Compatibility
Compatible drives either cross-flashed or custom burnermax firmware drives:

Thats the one yes,but you cannot cross flash any other revision other than B versions with. Some different makes can be cross flashed..Like the one i have which is a DH24ABS46B which ive crossed flashed into a 124 Ihas drive.Look at your options on the links i gave you.

I've sent a message to the seller asking him if it's a rev B model. So be it 122 or 124, it HAS to be rev B?

you can cross-flash a 122B to a 124 the flash the burnermax firmware to it.Any other revision you will have to use the payload tool.

I tried using the payload tool with my laptop's dvd burner but it didn't work out well and IMGBURN gave errors during verification
http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152...d3_game-964448/
The payload tool does say that my laptop drive is compatible. What should I do?
EDIT:
All my Device Manager and IMGBURN say is that the dvd drive is a slimtype one
Quote: 15:31:17 -> Drive 1 - Info: Slimtype DVD A DS8A9SH EA16 (D:) (SATA)
For LiteON drives, additional settings must be changed in IMGBURN. Should I try doing that? How do I find the manufacturer of the drive?

Dont use your laptop drive for burning you will end up with high Kprobe results and errors.Sometime you can get away with burning xgd2 images but laptop drives even with the payload tool are not up to the job for over burning. As i said before you are best looking at the list of either cross flashable drives or Ihas rev B drives. At least you will not run into too many problems as long as you use decent 001's or 003's (Singapore) Verbatim DL for burning.

I'll wait for the sellers to reply then.
If they tell me that neither the 122 one nor the 124 one is revision B, which one should I buy? If neither of them are rev B, I'll have to rely on the payload tool.
EDIT:
Although this one is a WU revision model (which I understand is NOT supported) http://www.flipkart.com/liteon-ihas122-...ODDEUDDZ2N9QCZF
There is a comment that says that it can burn XGD3 titles successfully. Why do you think this is possible?

Hey, I just came across a comment saying that this drive:
http://www.flipkart.com/liteon-ihas122-...mdnzg6qazngmat?
IS actually IHAS 124 DU model. So it is a D revision model. Does this change anything?
Btw, the first link you gave me (the team-xecuter one isn't working)
EDIT:
I just read here
http://xboxpirate.eu/forums/topic/401-ihas124-04-d/
that the payload tool is compatible with ALL IHAS drives, so it doesn't really matter which IHAS drive I go for right?
Correction: It doesn't matter which ihas drive I go for as long as it's an X24 model. If it's an ihas 122 model, it HAS to be rev B.

If you want to go down the Payload tool route then no all revisions should work.Google a compatibility list for the payload tool if my link is not working.

Yep all those will work but it would be interesting to find out if the seller says its a rev B 124.If you plan on using the payload tool it wont matter.

Considering that arsenalforever has now been searching for a compatible drive for way over a year, I kind of can't see him rushing in and buying something. By the way, he has been receiving the same answers over and over again.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

It's just that the introduction of the payload tool and conflicting opinions about drives on Google, coupled with the fact that hardly any drives desirable for getting good burns are available in India confuse me.

I just spoke to the seller and he said that he orders the drives from the distributor so he does not know which revision model it is. So should I go ahead and order the iHas drive?
