Hello guys! After several days lost behind the ProgSkeet write this guide to immediately begin tinkering with this new toy, this guide will be 'the topic " PS3 "... So we will see together how and where to solder the ProgSkeet, the various modes of operation and the ' NANDs or application of NOR 's of your console.
We begin immediately with the procure all necessary :
ProgSkeet (ovvio!)
Skein of at least 10m-still better to be safe than being wireless! - AWG30 wire (diameter 0.2 mm) or even up to AWG20 AWG24 unipolar
PS3 Slim or Fat.
Drivers of Progskeet (Download from the official page).
Precision soldering iron tip
Tin (I used tin lead with 0.8cm in diameter, otherwise you can also use 0.5 for a work even more 'accurate)
A PC with Windows -is highly recommended to use Windows XP Pro SP3 and Windows 7 has seen some problems in the writing
After these brief instructions and requirements, we start by introducing the 2 types of memories that can be found on our console:
In the PS3, there are NAND and NOR memories, typically consist of two NAND flash memory chips, and NOR have a single chip.
The differences between the two are fairly obvious ... just think that to read a bank of NAND 15 wires are connected to the motherboard, but in addition a switch if the console is Brikka (I will discuss more 'below), the situation is different when it comes to NOR: NOR serve it for a single 23-wire address data wires +16 +7 + 1-wire control wire for controlling the "sad" the NOR. (Plus a few additions in the case of brick, and some additional mass to stabilize the whole).
Your main guide, mounting to find patterns and advice is obviously on the official website of progskeet, in the download section ... where there is' a zip file with pictures and everything else to read your PS3 NAND and NOR, for then a reference to more 'concrete and followed by most developers' active in the scene, I recommend you always go on PS3devwiki where Flashing Hardware section is just for us!
As a premise, it is obvious that this work IS NOT 'RIGHT WHO HAS NEVER HANDLED A WELDER, OR WHO IS NOT' WORK IN ELECTRONIC used to do, we do not assume RESPONSIBILITY 'FOR DAMAGE TO YOUR CONSOLE TO THIS GUIDE.
Now we proceed:
Meanwhile, well assimilated the concept that the strands' long '(ie' well in excess of 10 cm) are not shown in the flashing of NOR / NAND, because only create problems and delays in connections, which instead should be perfect) and then as the first Board I would say to cut the wires about 20 cm each, placing the Progskeet the most 'close as possible to the points to be welded.
AND BEFORE soldering the wires to the points and POI progskeet NOR / NAND as shown in the diagrams, this will allow you to position the wires as best you want to do a job and definitely more 'good looking and free from short flying.
Use double-sided tape is not a bad idea, indeed, at least in part by fixing the wires do a better job, and weave the threads is not the best way to proceed when there is 'need to so' many connections: just one wire is a little 'more' tended to break up another 3 or more ', so take your space and arrange the wires with calm ...
For a functional setup took me about 3 hours, but this does not mean that you can use less ... just patience and a magnifying glass if you have a good view.
Choose a location that is not too full of SMD components and fix them 'your Progskeet ... from that moment as best you can begin to pay you, of course, this tutorial will not teach you to pay ... but know' which is always good to take before the scheme to follow, and then pay ... this will save you a lot of twisted wires and short unwanted ...
Here's an example
Cables "DATE" Welded
If possible, check with a tester that all links are working and that there are no solder ...
The next step is obviously to pay all the rest ... And be careful what you do well and settled in what order, sometimes it's better to leave behind some wires to make a better arrangement.
At the end of the work should have after all a result like this:
A special cable, fixed with adhesive
And finally:
End of work
Welds made on PS3 testpoints NOR
If you had not noticed yet, there are more on the programmer 'a GND ... this is just a fact well, you should pay more' points GND possible to stabilize the signal and make the flashing / dumping your memory the most 'stable possible.
It 'best to adopt for GND and VCC wires a little' more 'big, as always.
Now you must choose your configuration:
The road here is divided into 2 choices: keep the progskeet offline and use it when you need it ... or use it for a short time and then unsolder all ...
If you choose the first road, you have to make changes to Progskeet, but if you choose the latter it's ok! The reason is simple:
once paid the Progskeet, your PS3 will take some power from the USB port of the programmer, so if you do not change anything, any time you want to play, you connect the controller to a USB port.
If you instead choose whether to use the console or Progskeet normally be made a few changes:
Desoldering R8
Solder a switch that allows you to short circuit at will (so if you buy a classic 3-way switch, you have to solder the pin to pin to the left and center) of the pitches R7
Connect the 3.3V to the programmer's point of NOR_VCC your PS3
The changes described above and 'Brikka REQUIRED for consoles, which would otherwise extinguish themselves after a few seconds, and for those who want to keep connected to your PS3 always Progskeet.
After this small modification to use the capabilities of the programmer you have to perform this procedure:
Unplug the power cord from your PS3
Unplug the USB cable from the PC programmer
R7 Ensure that the switch is open (not in short pitches)
Connect the power cable to the PS3
Wait about 20 seconds (the PS3 will not turn off)
Connect the USB cable to your PC
Change the switch position, and then short the lay-R7
Now your ProgSkeet is recognized by the PC.
After this procedure, you can perform all operations that involve the programmer (which will be a new tutorial), but it is good 'to specify that an operation of reading / writing and the other would be good to disconnect the power cable and the PS3 repeat all the steps, this will prevent the NOR / NAND return incorrect values.
If you want to use the exercise your PS3, just start the console with the switch in the active position R7 (R7 shorted pads) and this will start as usual (if not Brikka obviously :) )
Perfect, the guide is finished and I will ... 'to release a tutorial for the phases of handling and dumping of flash memory on your PS3, just uf6667 (software developer for PC) will release a stable version of the flasher (I recommend not to use Beta versions to write, at most, only to read ... as there are problems. at least at present).
250gb ps3 non modded and 60gb launch model 3.55cfw
