Can't fix flashing red light on PS3

I've got a fat 60gb PS3 and it broke down on me.

It switches on and I can access the XMB but after a couple of seconds it shuts down with the red light flashing. I do not get a yellow light at all.

I've opened it up to give it a clean and reapplied some thermal paste while it was open. But I still have this problem, I've also tried it without the hard drive without any success.

I've searched around but cannot seem to find any other solutions.

Any help will be appreciated.

when you where putting it back together did you remember to plug the fan back in??

lol the fan is definitely plugged in.

I don't think the problem is over heating because i don't get a yellow light. This is so frustrating, I have no idea what else i can do.

I fixed mine last night, it means the Chip cannot report its temp, I did the reflow and re apply heat paste and all good
