Hi to every users of PS3. I'm one of the consumer who experience problem in YLOD. As this problem is getting more and more common among all of the PS3 consumer. I like to gather up every PS3 consumer to complain to Sony, because it is a big problem. Consumers paid $250++ for a premium item as Sony produce premium item. YLOD happened is because it contains high performance hardware and also running high graphics so it produce a lot of heat and the heat will cause crack in the soldering of the PS3, because PS3 is using lead free soldering. Compare lead and lead free, lead is much more better and I believe that it YLOD problems will be lesser if using lead free, and based on a lot research on the net, I also found out that Sony apply poorly in the thermal section and using poor quality thermal as well. Now I'm gathering people to complain to Sony and I believe that YLOD users want to do that as well. They are making profits, while we are experiencing difficulties on the problems, not only that as well it usually happened after the warranty and they charge for a very expensive price to repair the problems, based on my net analysis most of them said it is $150. With that price I willing to add another half or more to get a new PS3. Please to all PS3 consumer. Please spread this to every PS3 users and YLOD victims. As for the users who haven't occur this problem, I can say you are lucky that your PS3 survive, but I hope that you can help the others who are having this issue and I can say that you do not want the problem happen on yourself as well. While for the victims, please help me to spread to anyone and is the best to reach to the whole wide world and let Sony knows that they should take action to improve their machine or do something to us the victims.
Please help the victims and also yourself and also for the better machine in the future, PS3 did not take action because there is not much people who complained about this issue.

Because it is a serious problem. If we don't correct Sony mistakes, there will be even worst problem coming out for their future consoles. We must let Sony knows that they cannot cheat consumer like that. Nowadays people just doesn't care much about it that's why more and more people affect this problem and pissed off by take to repair and happened again and repair and repair the process repeated again, some bought the 1st machine and spoil and bought the 2nd machine. All of this just benefit Sony and who lost the consumer. You might not understand because I not sure did it happened to you, but to us victims. We understand well that's why I made this up and to show Sony about their mistake they should correct.

I bought the launch 60GB and though it did suffer the YLOD it did took almost 4 years for it to eventually happen.I'm now on the slim PS3.My friend did not have a launch PS3 but did have a FAT version and yes his suffered the YLOD as well BUT only after 2 years or so of use. I respect what your doing here but the YLOD is not as big as an issue as the RROD, very far from it.I had a 48" rear projection Sony Vega and I found out that there was an issue with its optical block (if you google it,you'd see what I am talking about).Since it was a known issue and was in fact deemed a wide spread issue, Sony stepped up and paid for the cost of the repair.My friend Dan actually got a new 48" Bravia out of it. I was not so lucky but Sony did pay for the installation of the new optical block.Anyway where I'm getting at is again IF the YLOD was in fact as bad and wide spread then we would have heard as much about it as the XBox 360's RROD.
If sony was not acting on this, then I would say it was no big deal. After all, the launch models of the 360 made the PS3 launch models seem indestructible. However, given the fact that recent firmwares have actually lowered fan speeds in order to cause more YLODs, the YLOD is now just another tool that Sony uses to squeeze money from their customers.
Still, why bother boycotting sony just for this? It is a bit like complaining that the mass murderer is a bad guy...not because of all the murders, but because he litters from time to time.
Anyway, there is a solid solution to the YLOD problem (unlike all the other PS3 issues that are either untouched or which are only fixed for a short time before sony breaks them again). It won't stop 100% of YLODs, but it will stop the vast majority of them...you can build it yourself, get a friend to build it, or you can even buy one of the plug-n-play units that I make for people who can't solder and don't know anyone who can. And, unlike other PS3 hacks, my hack won't get you a permanent console ID ban.
There is so many consumer like you guys that is the reason Sony doesn't take action, because people don't care at all... Like I said if we as a consumer don't take concern to these, Sony will take advantage of us and the machine will getting more and more problem. Your suggestion is = useless, since nobody will purposely go and build that themselves and I have never seen such people did that for any console before.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
I know that, but since they are using unleaded solder and they know that there is so many failure machine, so they should do something with it and not just leave it and cheat peoples money by fixing it.
I would commend you if you were really passionate about this but I think this has turned out to be nothing more than a forgotten weekend project.
