Help Installing Linux on PS3

I've tried a couple different tuts with no luck. I've got a PS3 Slim 160g with 3.55 Kmeaw CFW. I've tried to figure it out myself but I think its time to ask for help.

I get to the part where you can choose the different methods of install. After I choose my method the screens hangs for 5 to 10 minutes than goes blank. Someone please help! Its starting to get personal
