If you had realy searched you would have found out that you'd have to check what model you have to find out how far you can downgrade.

By the way, that stuff about playing Xbox 360 games on a PS3 was me, there are few stupid questions, but asking if it is possible to play backups on an unmodded console is definitely one ("Do I have to jailbreak or can I stream my backups?"). So it deserved a stupid answer.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
I should have specified, this slim PS3 is used, but I don't know how old. I bought it used and it was running very hot - so I tore it down and replaced the thermal grease.
Now I run it without the top lid, I don't think that thing serves much purpose if the console is in a cabinet.
p.s. I don't intend to put it online, just play offline games (as if it was a NES LOL)

You need to use a E3 flasher to download your PS3 to V3.55, but i don't recommend it, complicated and not worth doing, i suggest you just wait until there a CFW for it.
And yeah PS3 Cobra is working on the V3.55 PS3, can not work on yours, so..

It may work or may not work, that depends on the board version and the production date, the CECH-25XX (the 01 is the region code) came with two board versions, some downgradeable to 3.55, some only to 3.60. If it was produced in 2010 it is downgradeable.
Also the PS3 scene is pretty much dead, there won't be a firmware for 4.1 or higher, maybe the drive emulation thing proves to be something interesting.

At the moment it's only a rumor, noone knows if it is fake or not, atleast not yet.
