ive been searching forever, and the latest posts i see anywhere are from 2009. im about to purchase one of these bad boys and i was wondering if it is possible to burn a game i already own, to a blu ray disc that is able to be played without a jailbreak. this is an honest post not related to piracy if you can believe it. the games are so expensive that i dont want to end up spending more if i dont have too...

Nope, in order to play your backups you have to hack the console.
Also who's ever heard of a person buying a game before buying a console! lmao!
Also the latest posts are from this month, not 2 years ago, there is a tonne of info on running homebrew.
Also if you buy a new ps3 it'll be on 3.60 anyway so you will have to get one of the downgraders which currently require some soldering, though a solderless version is in teh works they say.

yea what i did is got a 1TB harddrive format it to fat32,and installed all my games on that,and you do have to have a console at 3.55 firmware or lower for this to work,its nice to sit in your comfy chair and scroll through your games to play,,
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
