Ok guys, I am coming from the Xbox scene and have just a couple of questions. I have searched a bit but had no positive answer to any of them. The first thing i do want to say though is i am going to be deployed to Iraq/Afganastan soon so i am really trying to get this figured out.
1) Does any one have a link to a HDD that will fit inside the PS3. I am under the impression that only 500gbs and some 750gbs will fit and any place i go does not tell how thick the drive is exactly.
2) After a JB to the PS3 is it able to play PS2 games or does it HAVE to be one of the back compatible ones? As i said i need plenty of games old and new for this deployment.
3) Do i have to run LV2 before i boot multiman? I would like to have a really simple manager kinda like what the Wii has.
4) Is it possible to make my games kinda channels or where i don't have to boot the manager first again kinda like the Wii can do.
Again guys be gentle i am totally new to the PS3 scene and really need some help on this. As always any help i am willing to listen to.
1. As for hard drives, for it to fit "correctly" you are stuck with 640GB and below, their are fairly simple ways to make the larger ones fit depending on whether it is a fat or slim model.
2. Ps2 games are a no as of now unless you have a backwards compatible model.
3. i am not using multi-man, however, most of the developers have fixed that so you shouldn't have to.
4. If i am understanding this question correctly, no, you will have to run the backup manager when the console starts up to play your backups or to switch games.
I am guessing that your planning on running CFW?
if so, the popular ones are
PS3ITA 3.55
KMEAW 3.55
I am running KMEAW with Rogero Manager. Relating to your third question, Rogero is extremely easy to use, so you might want to at least check it out.

the drive has to be 9.5mm high to fit
some of the 1tb's are 12
