Hey Guys,
I'm wondering if I could get a little help, ok, maybe more than a little as I'm using the long weekend to do some gaming stuff for the "FAM"
I have a Wii I got "professionally" modded for my father-in-law, same guy who did mine.
Pops couldn't see any games (which made me feel like a schmuck on his birthday)so I took home the game and HDD (a 320GB WD) and his Wii I bought also, and when I opened his Wii I saw no flash card in the front. The one my guy made for me has a 2 gig card.
Then, I plugged in the HDD into my lappie and I see just the 300MB of Western Digitals files, but no game files at all. My guy has moved away so I can't ask him what's wrong, and to be frank I don't even know if it's hard or soft-modded. Perhaps the 2 gig card in front of mine will tell you. It's just a Sandisk, not an R4 like my DS Lite. So my question is this, can I just transfer some game files from my 1 Terabyte HDD to Pops? I do own tons of commercial discs I could load up, but I don't see Neogamma or anthing else on the 320 WD, would I be able to "borrow" the 2 gig card in mine to do the job? No matter what, I don't want to risk bricking either unit, especially mine as my kid would cry for a week (he's 5). I will cheerfully entertain all suggestions as all of you know more than I do. Thanks in advance, The loser with the dead birthday gift.

Did the guy show you what to do or how to access the games when he was done with the wii!?! Or did you ever think about asking him what to do so you would know!?!?
I don't think the guy would be idiotic enough to just have modded the wii and not tell what to do to access your games or show you.... unless he assumed that "you knew" what to do or you told him thats it's ok it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
You definitely need a SD card inside your wii (and stop talking about the R4 card as it has nothing to do with the wii) they are 2 completely different things.
The SD card has the programs inside to be able to access your HDD (why am I repeating myself.... we explained all of this on the other threads). Also you said you can't access the games in the HDD, did it ask you if you want to format it when you plugged it into your laptop?!?! If it did did you say YES?!?! If you did then thats it nothing else to talk about as you have lost all your games. If it didn't the HDD must be either NTSC or FAT 32 and you should be able to see the games as he would have just thrown in the games into the HDD. If not then it looks like the guy didn't copy crap all into that HDD.
Also Neogamma is not used to access the HDD (like we said before on the other threads) Neogamma is for DVDs and USB sticks. To access your HDD through the wii, you need programs like USB Loader GX or CFG USB Loader.
Instead of wasting your time here why don't you just pay someone some extra cash and tell them how to show u how to do all of this and write it all down so you can do it yourself next time. Well that's what I would do if I were you anyways. I'm telling you this because to get to figure out what your problem is might give you more headaches than it would be to just get someone to show you. Headaches just like the rar files and burning the DVD ....which until now you have not figured out :(

Like he said, if you formatted, you're screwed and have lost any, and all games your "professional" put on the drive. I'm guessing the games are in wbfs format which can only be viewed with wbfs manager. Did you try loading the games up in there?
You should be able to slide your sd over to his Wii, and try to run the games with a usb loader. I prefer USB Loader GX for my external, NeoGamma is for discs. Be sure the drive is in the correct usb slot. Left slot if you're looking at the Wii from the front.
Also, do you have BootMii, or Priiloader installed on both of these Wii's? If not, I'd do so as soon as possible.

Hi Wiisel
Enjoyed reading a number of your posts in the past, took me a minute to recognize the name, thanks for helping out..
No Wiisel, I didn't format anything, first, I don't know how to format or partition a drive or anything like that, second, I'm a reasonably intelligent guy, all evidence to the contrary with my recent inability to get a damned ISO extracted from a rar file.
In that, I'm smart enough to know my limits, and I'm not one to "experiment", if I don't know how to do something, I don't try. I find guys like you to help. Anyway, I did put WBFS on my lappie, but no, I haven't tried to load it up using that proggie, but I will. Tong and in his own quirky roundabout way Vato have been helping me figure all this out, which is a good thing 'cause I've got a bit of a task in front of me. Yeah, I could use the help. I just torched 50 bucks I'd rather have spent elsewhere because I couldn't pull a single ISO no matter what I did. Tong sent me a few screenshots and I'm pretty sure I got a clean burn on the game but my Wii kicked it back, I assume because it was a PAL, or as you mentioned, not running it through WBFS. The Imgburn went all the way through to the end without the German chick saying "Damn, we have a problem" (-;/

You, my friend, are quite the enigma, but it's clear you know what you're talking about so I'll do my best with my extremely limited skillset and tell you what I've got. I'll try to be brief as you request. Of course I asked the "pro" to show me, but he was a flake, he would have my units for a week or more (I have 2 Wii's and a DS Lite), his email and phone changed every 2 weeks...so no, I learned nothing from him. Had I not plugged the Terabyte HDD into my lappie, I'd never have seen it had like 75 movies on it. Here's my equipment so I don't sound all over the place: I have 2 Wii's, the white ones from a couple of years ago, a 1 Tera HDD for my personal unit Western Digital, a 320 gig WD for my second unit and a DS Lite (why I didn't know an R4 didn't go in all modded units). When I open up my Tera on my lappie, I only see the jpegs of the movies, I see no games or any other file at all (the WBFS thing I assume). The 320 HDD I see only the files a WD HDD comes with when I plug it into my lappie. My goal on that one is to put some game files I have on the 320, but now if I understand you it may indeed have the games already there, I just can't see them right? There is no 2 gig flash card in my second Wii like I have in my Tera unit one. I did pay him for the games and he probably did what I paid him for, he was always late, but never failed to do what I paid for...so my question...how do I get the games to work on the 320? Can I "borrow" the 2 gig flash card from my Tera unit to make them "appear"? I could hook up the unit to my home theatre and try whatever you suggest.
Thank you

First of all.... pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee oh please for the love of GOD stop calling this guy who modded your wii a "Pro" as he is nothing more than a normal guy who is kind of doing Illegal things and a Pirate lol (as you are aware it is illegal to download games and put it into a HDD, let alone movies) but shhhhhhhhhh we won't tell anyone ;)
If he was a pro he would have a legit business and would not be changing his email addresses and numbers so much as you said.
Secondly I think you are not grasping what I said earlier.... for your HDD to have games on it.... it either has to one... Be formated to the WBFS format and have all the games inside through the WBFS program (and you will know this when you plug your HDD into your laptop and it gives you a message) "Do you want to format this HDD" but until now, I do not know if this is the case. (Also if your HDD was WBFS formated then you will not be able to go into it.
Second if your HDD is supposed have movies and games it will either be a normal NTSC or FAT32 HDD. You say that you can go into it and see Jpegs of movies?!?
Do you mean you can see movies or just pics!?!?! I am confused at what you are saying here? Have you tried clicking on them to see if they play on your computer?!? Or are they just pics? If you cant see any games there or your file is not asking you to format it because its a WBFS format HDD then sorry to tell you this but "YOU HAVE NO GAMES".
You can see your games through your wii 2 ways.
As it being formated as a WBFS HDD and as it being an NTSC HDD (but when you have it formated as an NTSC HDD then you should be able to see all the ISOs on your HDD when you connect it to your Laptop).
You should try to see if the things inside your HDD are movies or pics. To be able to play them movies on your Wii is another story and you need another program, but we can get to that another time.
As for the 2GB SD card (I think what you are trying to say) which is inside your wii, you might be able to use it on your other wii (by either putting into the other wii or copying the files from that SD card to another) but it depends if the guy modded your wii's the same way and if not then the files inside that he used might have to be different.
We first need to know how your HDD has been formated and then we can go from there.
Hope this helps.
Oh yeh and sorry for going nuts on ya on the Burning an ISO on the other page. You just got on my nerves for some reason there... but PEACE LOVE AND HARMONY LOL that sounds gay but u know what i mean.
I think mate you really should get someone who is around your place to show u one on one so you will learn better than listening to all of us give u a million instructions.

The Sd card in your Wii should work just the same in the other Wii as it does for you. I would just switch the sd card over to that Wii and try both of your drives to see if you can in fact pull up any Wii games with a USB Loader. Or let me know the results of trying to load it up in WBFS Manager on your pc.
Also, when you plug the drive in to your pc you say that you can see movies(or images, we're not sure) how large is that drive? Is it the entire drive? Do you also see another drive? For example, when the drive is partitioned, you'll have one half for movies, lets call it drive E, and the other half for games(in wbfs format) called drive F. Do you see two drives, or just one? The WBFS drive would not be labeled, just Drive F. If you click on drive F, you will not be able to open it as it requires the WBFS Manager.

Why are you repeating what I just said!?!? (by just rewording it differently) > <

The "Pro" thing was meant to be sarcastic, henceforth the quotation marks earlier, yeah, he was a good chap, but unreliable. First, we'll go over my personal Terabyte HDD, the one with the movies. What I meant about the jpeg movie images, they were the "icons" for each film, and could be played with the video format I use and were associated with VLC. When I plugged it into my lappies usb port, that's all I saw, just the movie jpegs or screenshots, whatever you want to call them, but I saw no games or other files to select, none. Plug it back into the Wii and the games do appear, all 400 or so, is this because I was supposed to have the SD card plugged into another port on my laappie at the same time to see the game files, or is it as you said, I won't be able to see the games because that means they were loaded from WBFS? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I honestly don't know. You asked: Does it say "Do you want to format this HDD" but until now, I do not know if this is the case". No, it didn't ask me that when plugging either HDD in. The Tera showed me the films and nothing else, the 320 gig HDD only Western Digitals program options. I'm guessing it's empty but the second Wii is modded as far as I know, he always gave me what I paid for. Still, that Wii has no SD card. My goal is to transfer some games from my Tera HDD to Pops 320 gig HDD.
Ask away Vato
Thanks

"If not then it looks like the guy didn't copy crap all into that HDD."
Yes Vato, you are correct, the 320 gig is empty as far as I can tell. Is there a way for me to easily tell you if it was formatted NTSC or FAT32? My lappie is NTSC if that matters for "viewing" purposes. I'm trying to answer your questions directly and ask specific ones myself.

Hey V, I just loaded a file using Fileserve Manager, do you know where the file "ends up" or must you move it when it's done? For example, when I use a proggie like MiPony, it made it's own file and dumps my downloads in there. I have a "premium" paid account with Fileserve if that matters.
Thanks

I'll try the card switch, thanks. I'll look again, but when I plugged my Tera Wii in, I only saw the 60 some movie files and nothing else, not one single file, drive choice or other option of any kind, just the movie files. It's as though the 400 game ISO's are invisible. I'll try not to repeat what's been said as asked.

When I plugged in the Tera HDD (that one's "mine", the 320 gig is my father-in-law's technically so that's how I'll refer to them going forward), the only thing I see on my Tera is about 65 jpegs or screenshots if you will, of movies the guy loaded up, they are full movies that I can play on my lappie, sizes from about 400 megs to 2 gigd. I didn't check the size of the drive, but I will. I didn't see anything else, no second drive, no evidence of a partition, not so much as a single file folder other than the flicks. So you have the facts, I don't have any homebrew proggies of any kind on my lappie, remember I didn't do the work so if you need any of that to view the game files, I don't have it. I just loaded WBFS onto my lappie 2 days ago at you kind gentlemen's behest, but I don't think it was on there when I viewed the contents of the HDD if it matters. Many thanks

your hd will be partioned say one half in fat or ntfc and the other half in wbfs. the only way you will see them games is either thru wbfs manager or wii back up manager, now ive never transfered from one hd to another but you should be able to take the wbfs file and extract it to iso using back up manager ( extract it to iso to your lappy desktop) then open wbfs again and refresh drive list ( when the 300 gig one is plugged in ) and send the iso to that one and it will convert it to wbfs

No, I understand, just telling you my 1 Terabyte HDD says WBFS right in the Neo menu, there was some question if I had WBFS or not,

So again I ask you....why did you just repeat why I said....genius!?!? If you don't like to read then don't come here or don't read what I posted.
Which kind of contradicts what you just said because you just said you didn't want to read the crap I wrote but then you go and say you typed what I said in three lines of less LMAO. So which one it is?!?! ^ ^
Originally posted by b1gh3ad: Vato please can you stop writing a essay every time you respond because its starting to annoy me
Dude stop your crying... if you bothered to read properly and not be such a grumpy bum then you would see that wyattspot needs a lot of explaining to be able to learn what to do (which he doesn't seem to mind and is more than appreciative off) and also I explain many things at a time that he asks about instead of being a moron and post every 5 seconds for every question he asks. So please before you start flaming people, take a breather, have a cup of coffee and read the posts.
Plus wyattspot.... I'm confused as you say this HDD is WBFS formated .... how can it be if you say that it doesn't ask you "Do you want to format it" when you plugg it into your laptop?? If the HDD is formated as a WBFS then the computer wont be able to read the HDD and ask to format it. Also on WBFS you can transfer the games from one HDD to another. Either all at the same times or only the ones you want.
I did that just about a month ago (but mind you for about 285 games it took like 16 hrs) so be ware ^ ^
