Gonna have to get a hotswap box. Far too convenient to pass up ;) I can totally see myself making use of one.
Nice fan controller!

At barely half the price of a screwed-in enclosure, it was an absolute bargain. I paid no more for that than I did for the SATA-eSATA only standard enclosures, and they don't have any electronics at all!

Right, and explain this...the gigabyte boards I've purchased have come with a bracket for external SATA that screw into empty slot on the back panel. Bracket comes with 2 SATA connections and 1 power connection...foresight, how does it work?

Deadrum33,
Mine is connected up to the two purple GSata connections, which are set up for Hot swap, and came with a power adapter for two drives, so you can run a powered e-Sata enclosure or a bare drive. The power connector is a Molex that connects to the motherboard or PSU. Easier than it sounds!

Russ

Yeah I've got a Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus as well, that's currently in the NZXT case and will be used the next time that system is. The LEDs on the MFC1 are far more tolerable than the spotlights fitted to the original Rheobus, but less so than the Rheobus Extreme as they aren't diffused.
The Kaze Masters I have are black like the one you have, they fit in the HAF quite well. They're also, unlike the Sunbeams, a doddle to install.

I understand HOW it works, i was mainly making fun of the fact it gives you one more data connection than power...so if you already have one disk plugged in, you can plug in another, but that guy needs to find its own power...

I can't remember if it comes with a Molex splitter or not. Either way, if it doesn't, they're not difficult to get hold of :P

I sincerely hope that Wikipedia is wrong. If they're right, Bulldozer could be considered an AM3+ chip. Which is NOT compatible with AM3 boards. While AM2, and AM3 chips will be compatible with AM3+, Bulldozer will not be compatible with older mobo's. Which makes my next upgrade more expensive then I was planning. Gonna have to sell some of my hardware in the near future :S

It sure sounds like an impressive chip though xD

AMD's reliance on the same socket is one of the reasons for them not having high performance CPUs. The AM2 architecture is old, and they really need to ditch it to take a substantial lead.

Oman7,
Well slap my face! :) Looks like missing the socket AM3 completely, was the right thing to do! I'll wind up having gotten 4 generations more use out of my 1066 Dominators then, because a 6 core 1090T-BE is up next in mine! DDR3 has now dropped in price that a new motherboard and DDR3 memory won't be such a big hit now!

Glad myself that I didn't go AM3 for the simple fact that every single AM3 CPU works with my board. I've had my Phenom II long enough that Bulldozer is perfectly timed. As long as it delivers performance-wise, I will be staying AMD. If not, I'll be gett6ing that i5...

I've been chatting in the BD rebuilder Beta forum at doom9. Several people are witness to X264 Codec utilizing 6+ cores 100%. Jdobbs himself seems to think it will handle MORE cores. I knew it was possible to program keeping future Processing architecture in mind ;) Can't wait to play with my next CPU. But then, I won't like spending as much money as I'm gonna have to. 1090t is certainly tempting. But I have to see Bulldozer first. Since Bd rebuilder on my 940Be averages just over 2hrs an encode, I can live with that. I'm sure my 965 will do substantially better too.

Am quite fond of my 940BE considering how early I purchased it. One of my friends here in town got one like 3 days before I got mine and his can barely hold 3.4GHz stable(MSI-790FX that took a 6400+ to 3.6GHz). Whereas mine will do 3.8GHz 24/7 stable with a little more voltage :)

You probably have a better chip than I as well :p 3.55Ghz was as far as I could take mine. But I didn't fool with the Northbridge much at all. My 965 required a Northbridge voltage bump, to stabilize at 3.9. Since my settings of 3.5Ghz are SOOO solid on the 940, I'm afraid to mess with it :S It feels PERFECT the way it is LOL! You know?

The Core i7 950 is roughly analagous to a 4.2Ghz Phenom II X4, or in fully multi-threaded scenarios, a 2.8Ghz Phenom II X6, not far off the 1090T's stock clock. Therefore, in order to be more powerful than an i7 950 per-core, AMD need to make their next CPU at least 30% more powerful. I'm near-certain that Bulldozer will be a much bigger leap in performance by comparison to Sandy Bridge, but Intel don't really need to do much to counter a sizeable 50% jump from AMD. (The biggest leap I can recall in recent history is that of from Pentium D Presler to Core 2 Duo Conroe, which was about 90% per clock, and 280% per watt per clock - yup, for every watt of power used, a Core 2 Duo does 4x the work of a Pentium D!)

I'm about as jealous as they come :p Though 2 PC's is really all I need. At least in my current housing situation. I can see myself doing soo much more, if I could just change my life around. It'll work out eventually ;)

Yeah as mentioned, only two of the systems have really seen any use in the last six months. Still, handy to have though. If I can get hold of a cheap graphics card for PC3, it'll see use at LANs this year.

Here's a new one for everyone, at least I never came across it before. I had an IDE drive "BSOD" a customer's computer. The opening screen with the bar running across It runs for about 3 seconds and you can hear the computer load down, just before the BSOD! Booting with an XP install disk, when you get to the screen where you choose where to put windows, it just says "Unknown Drive and Unknown Format". It's about 5-6 years old. A new drive should be here on Monday.

I tested it with an old 10GB drive, and laid a quick copy of XP on it, and it works fine! I just thought I would mention it because it's kind of a rare thing to have happen.

Best Regards,
Russ

Very interesting Russ. Had the same thing myself recently, but an IDE optical drive. I do believe one of the pins on the drive connector was broken off, might be the same case for that HDD maybe?

Not quite the same thing but i've had a few machines that exhibit almost similar behaviour (just no BSOD, the computers would just freeze). I've had the odd laptop where XP would freeze at said 'loading bar' screen if a PCMCIA card was in the slot, as long as the card isn't plugged in the laptop will boot. Wierd but just have to plug the card in after boot and it doesn't crash at all, only causes problems when plugged in at boot time.
Also i've seen similar problems, sometimes with "Can't load NTDLR" or similar messages, when flash drives/card readers are plugged in at boot. Can't recall any BSOD's from said machines though,..

Had a strange one when fitting my fan controllers. PC hung at the windows 7 splash screen every time, and the startup repair utility crashed. Stuck the DVD in the drive and ran repair install, and it said almost immediately 'problems were found with your startup settings, fix?' as soon as I hit enter the PC rebooted, and windows works fine again, but for the fact that all the versions of windows on the other HDDs in the system that I no longer use appear in a boot manager and I have to select (there is no auto countdown to the correct OS). Looks like another reformat is due, only 1 week after the last one...

Ah yes. NTLDR message. I received that message one day on my HP pavilion 7905. At the time, I knew Damn little about computers. Fact is, I knew near nothing about hardware. I broke down and took it to the local shop. They discovered that the sound card was causing the fuss. If I had just removed one unnecessary component at a time, I could have tracked it down, and saved 50$. But it is exactly that error, that inspired me to work on my own stuff xD Not quite ready to open my own business, but I know a few things :p
