Story.Havent posted in a while.I built my PC about 2 years ago.its not slow atall but would like to upgrade.theres so much new stuff out i think its time to upgrade.my specs are

Proc: AMD athlon 64 3700+ 2.21 GHz
Ram: x2 TWINMOS 512 MB-DDR-DIMM
Graphics: Gainward NVIDIA GeForce 6600
PSU: Hyper 412W HPU-45435
HDD: 250 GB
Mobo: ABIT KN8 c5c002125

I think thats everything.Im looking to upgrade the ram at least another 3-4 GB and a new graphics card.Should i upgrade the processor?? If so will it be compatible with my mobo??

Im also buying a TB HDD to replace the old 1 and maybe a smaller one to run my OS off to make it a bit faster.I usually order my stuff from komplett.ie because i live in ireland.if anybody knows a better site please let me know

Any help would be much appreciated

Not enough information. We need to know what the budget is, intended use (e.g. games, HDTV, 3D modelling) and what current case you have, to see what upgrades are compatible. You will realistically need a new CPU, motherboard, power supply and RAM just to begin with.

Ideally you should budget in a new case with a new PC, as such a poorly designed case for cooling may cause you issues with a powerful PC.

Yes, it's pretty terrible, and newer hardware may get quite hot.

Something like an NZXT Tempest would do well.

I like the NZXT Tempest what kind of PSU?i was thinking a Antec TPQ 850-EC, 850w PSU, SLI, 80Plus.150 for it on komplett.ie i was also thinking

mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P, Socket-AM3 145
proc: AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition 190
ram: Corsair TWIN2X PC8500 DDR2 4GB KIT CL5 96
graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 171
hdd: Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA2 68
should i get a second smaller drive to run the OS off?
DVD drive: Sony NEC Optiarc DVD±RW burner AD-7200A, 20
Blu ray: LG Blu-Ray burner BH08LS20, 8x, 170
Sound card: Creative SB X-FI Xtreme Gamer 86

It would cost me 1096 for all that.and 185 for the new monitor.please have a look and tell me what yas think.any suggestion off anything better and is everything compatable with the mobo?

$1002 pre-delivery.
I haven't included the sound card as komplett do not sell the one you listed, nor in fact do they really sell any decent sound cards, so you may want to look elsewhere for that. The same for the 1TB HDD, I have replaced the dubious Samsung with a reliable WD, but the 1TB version is not currently stocked at komplett.

I'm not sure who started that rumour, I see it a lot, but it has never been the case, and nor as far as I can see will it ever be the case.
Build looks good. The Razer Naga mouse is ridiculously overpriced, and you will never need all its macros unless you play World of Warcraft, but it's all solid stuff there.

Ugh, why is everyone obsessed with changing the RAM to low quality crucial these days?! Stick with the Corsair, for your own benefit.

Why the change in PSU too? 450W is ample for your PC and what's more, the 620W Coolermaster you added is actually less powerful than the Corsair that was there before, never mind lower quality and noisier, and more expensive!
