WD 1tb won't sync to ps3 from mac

I bought a wd 1tb to play movies on my ps3. Have read, read, and reread about needing to format it into
fat 32 - did that
make file names of video photo music- did that
make another file ps3 with video music and photo inside it - did that
make them all capital letters - did that
But when I then plug external hard drive after doing all of the above on my mac my ps3 shows nothing
been trying to set this up for over 3 weeks and can not figure it out please help.

Also does it matter that the wd 1 tb said on box that it was made specially for macs? Could that be part of the problem?
