I have 2 ps3's that im working on right now. Im currently trying to fix one so i can sale it and have money for parts on the other.
ps3 #1
First off, both ps3's are the fat models. This one does not have backwards abality. Anyhow, im having 2 problems with this console. First is when inserting a game, the game will go 3/4 of the way in and i can hear the drive trying to pull the game in, but it wont. I've done the hard reset on the eject button (holding for 15 seconds) and it will give me my game back and it sounds like its resetting the drive. So i take the top off and hold agin for 15 seconds and watch what it does. The eye moves but nothing else does. i put the game on the spindle and placed the magnet on top of the disc, with the top of the drive still off, and i hit the eject button, nothing moves and then the ps3 acts like i have a game in and will spin the disc. Not a problem if i was keeping it, but no one is going to want to have to continue to take the top of and manually put the game on the spindle to play it. I can note that the gear on the side isnt catching the rail and raising it like it should, which is why i believe it wont load the disc properly with the top on.
Second problem is it gave me an overheating message the other day when i was actually trying to play a game on it to test if it was going to work right. It shut itself off before i could read the whole message. Any suggestions on what it could be?
Ps3 #2
This one has backwards ability, although i think its the one with the emulator on it. Only problem im having with it is it wont read games, which im pretty sure its a laser problem. Any suggested sites where i wont get ripped off? Its the kes-400a and i done an ebay search and found a laser thats suppose to work on a few models, but i want to make sure they wont affect the ability to play ps2 games. Also, what kind of price should i sale this for? I know it will be worth a little bit since it can play some ps2 and ps1 games.
Just check ebay for the price for the 2nd PS3, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high, they aren't worth that much, especially when they have been opened (people might suspect a repaired YLOD console). The laser won't affect the ability to play PS2 games. I would try getting a YLODed console off ebay that has not been opened before, preferably one that is the same model as the first one and switch the drives and maybe PSU and the fan of the YLODed one with the first one and also clean the first one out (remember switching the drive boards, or the keys won't match). For the second one I would check if the laser of the defective drive of the first console fits for the second console and switch them.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
I have the same problem. When ever i start my ps3, it tries to read the disc but after few seconds, it sounds like it is ejecting the disc and then stops. And then i have to wait 5 to 10 minutes to warm up my ps3. And then when i restart my ps3, it plays the game smoothly. Any solution for this? Sorry for my bad english.
