I've been using a 1tb HDD for the past 6 months to move my playtv recordings. Whenever I'm running out of space I conenct the HDD to my PC and either transfer or delete recordings. I deleted around 77gb of recordings and in 'My Computer' it clearly shows that there is 77GB free space. However when I then connect it to the PS3 it says there is only 325mb free space.
Anyone know why its not seeing the remaining space. I free up space on the HDD all the time and it always displays the correct amount of free space when I subsequently transfer the next lot of recordings, but this time it will not allow me to transfer as it thinks the "source destination drive is full". Its driving me mad. The only thing I can think of doing is moving the 933GB of recordings over to my PC, then format the external HDD then move that 933GB back onto the external HDD. This will take an age though, any suggestions on how I can get the PS3 to see the space that is there?!

Hi thanks for the response. I found something of a solution, which is when I want to delete a file I connect the HDD to PS3 and delete it through that. The PS3 then subtracts the deleted files size and subsequently recognises more free space

I was wrong anyways. But if you have any free space still not recognized by the ps3, a defrag should solve that problem.

Strange thing is my PC still recognises free space, so if I delete a file on the HDD through my PC, the PC immediately tells me the real free space e.g I have 4GB free space and then delete a 1Gb file so I now have 5gb free space. But then if I connect to PS3 it will say that I've only got 4gb free space. So would a defrag do anything as its the PS3's misreading that is the problem
