I had the same issue using DVDXcopy and a sony standalone player. Switched to DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. My Sony standalone now plays it just fine.

Same problem here.
Using DVD X Copy Plat, Kill Bill 2, Open Range, and Dragonfly will only play the 1 second of each chapter. If I play the disk in my cheap Konka TV/DVD the disk plays without any issues.

It appears to be a Sony DVD player issue?
Strange since over 100 other movies play just fine.

Yep, does seem like a problem with Sony DVD player. Did someone say they managed to get it working though.
I've tried 2 Bulkpaq discs, it plays fine until about chapter 8 or so then problems.
My Sony DVD player is DVP-NS405. This is the first film I've had a problem with.
And, I use DVD Shrink and Decrypter
I will try burning the film on to a Packard Bell disc at 2x to see if it makes any difference, but will give up after that.

I use shrink with burn & Go Nitro cd/dvd or roxio 6 no problems with any of those movies. I hardly never use decrypter; only with dvd(5). I think alot of people are using to many programs just to burn movies. Why do must people burn their movies as an ISO file instead of of a DATA file I've been burning as a data files over 2yrs now with no problems what is the difference.

Ok i've got it working. Think very strongly its due to:
i. media
ii. burn speed
I burned with bulkpaq discs first which work perfectly on all my other films, but not kill bill 2. The burn speed was 4x. I then tried Packard Bell (better quality) discs and burned at 2.4x and it worked.
so i managed to copy using shrink and decrypter, packard bell discs, and played on sony dvd player.

Hey there scottand, How many threads did you post a link to your own dribble too ? No matter, I have time to track your wacko "theories" and shed the light of truth upon them ?
DVD43 has absolutely no bearing at all of your DVD backup playing or not playing on a player or PC.
True, DVD43 does remove CSS but so does DVD Shrink as well as it gets rid of that pesky MacroVision protection which DVD43 won't even touch. Media, on the other-hand, plays quite a roll in successful burning and playing, which can be borne out by numerous threads here at AfterDawn.
While it's interesting to see you link to your own babblings, it's more interesting to see you allude to "others" who support your claim. Whooo Boy, we could have a real ball with that one. Bring them out and I'll get all the Seniors, Addicts and Mods here-abouts and we'll have a "go" at your so-called "theory." This place is virtually packed with those who will tell you that DVD43 cannot have a bearing on how a player will or won't play a disc BUT poor media can, without question, have a negative effect on how a disc may be received by a standalone player.
Back to your own thread with you, and ponder why no one has posted to it. Generally we don't acknowledge postings when make zero sense (actually less than zero). Please don't expound your thoughts (?) on DVD43 to Newbies who may not have the education to see how utterly silly it sounds.
BTW, Don't say I'm anti-DVD43. Heavens no ! It's a shame it doesn't handle as many things as AnyDVD or RegionFree DVD, but for FREE, it's pretty good for using with CloneDVD2 or DVD2One or even Nero even if it doesn't work all the time.
A major drawback is that DVD43 will only work on Win2K OR XP and not on any other OS. Even so, we have had reports of pple experiencing problems using DVD43 with Win XP, Therefore, if you're looking for a lurking proggy ? Spend the $40.00(USD) and get AnyDVD for a really excellent, behind-the-scenes proggy.
OK, Ok, I've finally run down and have cooled off ? It was all a joke everyone he was just kidding about DVD43 making your disc play better on different players ? don't try it, it's a waste of time

well, I don't know weather scottland is right or not, but I can swear to it that the second I followed what he recommended, I got a backup of Kill Bill vol.2 to work smooth as silk for the first time since I bought it!
now I can put my original away safely and use the backup to entertain with and not risk my good copy getting scratched or chewed (I have dogs) or what have you...
I don't understand what they did differently, if anything, but darn if it didn't work...
whatever the reason, I'm happy and greatful :D

Scottand's theory was akin to saying that if you wash your car's windshield twice it would backup quicker -
Coincidences happen BUT by ripping a DVD twice it won't make it play on more standalones, that's just crazy -
Ooohhh wait, I have it, if I use AnyDVD, DVD43, DVD Decrypter AND SmartRipper then DVD Shrink (ripping it 5 times) can it play on an old style record player ? ? ? Huh, can it ? ?
Huuuummmm I've got to ponder this one . . . . .

well just like I said, I don't know how it did it, but the only thing that changed between my first 4 atempts that didn't work, and proptly filed under "s" in my circular filing cabnet, and the final 5th attempt that did work perfectly was that I followed his recommendation...
now I'm not saying that's the answer to the problem, but nothing else changed...
same computer, same movie, same media, same speed, same settings and programs... all that changed was that I tried having those programs in the background while I ran DVD-decrypter, and then ran DVD Shrink over top Nero...
now like I said at the beginning of the thread, all the backups played fine on my PC, as does this newest one (which is the one and only backup that still exists by the way), however the previous attempts just didn't want to have anything to do with my stand alone DVD-players... but this newest backup works fine...
I'm not saying he's got some magic bullet, or that he knows some secret or anything, I don't know what happened to make it work and I frankly don't care :D lol I'm just glad that it does :D
whatever is or isn't happening now, I'm just glad that it's doing or not doing what was interfering with letting the darn thing work :D lol
so whatever the credit goes to, I don't know, but regardless, his recommendation goosed me into attempting another backup and for whatever reason, now the backup works fine :D
