Yes, Nero fully supports the Pioneer DVR-108 recorder.

May I suggest that the list at your Site be updated then , Craig !!
As of this minute it still shows the Pioneer 107 but not the new Dual Layer 108 -- 16X

The drive was not officially supported till Nero 6.3.1.19, and we only just updated from Nero 6.3.1.17 to Nero 6.3.1.20 today.
As always, our Recorder support list on our website is a few days behind the new release.
So it will be updated ASAP, but must be done after the version has been posted of course. :-)

ok i updated to 6.3.1.20 but still no luck im using bbulkpaq orange 8x discs but it will still only write at 4x:( has anyone else tried the 108 yet and had success with Nero as i supose it could be the discs

Did you have media on the Recorder when you launched Nero InfoTool?
If you did, try runing Nero InfoTool again without any media in the recorder and see if it then reports as supporting 8x.

ok i just updated my firmware to 1.06 now infotool reconizes that the drive can write at 32 x and read at 40 times for cd but still nothing for the dvd i thought it may be that my drive didnt recognise the medsia so i tried clone dvd and record now and they both wrote at 8x only Nero seems to have trouble which is a headache as i love Nero and have always used it so can someone please help

There are a few people who do not like Nero, I have found Alcohol works really well & can be easier to use than Nero & have better results. I like Nero but I am beginning to fall in love with Alcohol 120%. According to alcohol admin the next Alcohol update will be dual layer compatibility. When it is I will no doubt be making many posts on this forum with the results of my trials (that is when the blanks come to a reasonable price!) I have found a selection of progs is the best way to good results.

I just confirmed from our labs that we are able to select and burn at 8x spees with this model Pioneer DVR-108 recorder.
I do not see anything in the Nero InfoTool as to why it will not allow you to write at 8x.
Do you have another system you can take the recorder too and test with our software? Just to see if the issue is system dependant with our software?

i dont have another system no, the problem im having is when i open express and copy a dvd the little box that has your speeds is greyed out when i put an 8x disc in it so i cant have any speed but 4x were if i put a 4x disc in i can choose either 4x 2x or 1x, there is a pic on this link with 8x media in the drive http://www.nfr.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk im using bulkpaq orange 8x discs

I need to check with Germany and see if there is a more recent firmware than 1.04, as that may be the issue.
I do not have this drive in our US lab, I have the 107 model and I have no trouble with that at 8x speeds.

Hi MLR,
Based on our tests in Germany, Nero supports 16x writing speed on DVD+R media with the Pioneer DVR-108.
However it depends on the used DVD+R media brand. We tested with a 16x DVD+R media from MKM/Verbatim.
I can only suggest contacting Pioneer and see what media they recommend for 8x and 16x speeds with the drive, and let them know that with the brand you are using you are only allowed 4x writes.
Its strange that CloneCD and RecordNow were able to write at 8x with that media. It could be that we allow the recorder to determine the write speed, and they are overiding that.
If so, you can download our Dynamic write speed tool to override this using the below link.

I can't promise that the media will be readable by other drives, or even the drive that creates it if you overide the drive.

i tried the Dynamic write speed tool but theres no change it may be that im using dvd-r discs i just dont know i think i will have to contact pioneer as you suggested and see what they say thanks for all your help tho you been great thanks alot (mlr)

Test were using Nero and all panned out to live to what Pioneer claim - The drive does write at 8X on DVD-R -- Quite impressive to say the least !!
Could it be you have a defective drive in your hand ??
But the conclusion may also point out that you may have poor media quality as it says The DVR-108 will determine what the highest write speed would be in order to maintain high quality. In fact, this drive will actually drop write speeds if it finds that it is not suitable for high quality writing.

ok finaly managed to burn at 8 and 12x with anv data 8x speed dvd-r not so impressed with the time tho i only gained 1min 30 seconds on these disc at 12x from what i normaly get at 4x, 12mins 38 seconds with anv 8x dvd-r and 14 mins 10 seconds with 4x bulpaq dvd -r
