Hello everyone. I use both dvd shrink and dvd decrypter to back-up. In shrink their is the option of using a "deep analysis" i heard it was supposed to increase the quality. Is this true and if so by how much? its double the time, so i might disable the option if the difference is negligable. Thanks

well it depends on the amount of compression required. shrink manages to to steal space from other files within the movie to increase the video quality. if you do not need to compress alot you might not need to do it. it's also a matter of preference. you need to figure out on your own what quality level is acceptable to you. also i've read elswhre in the forum that shrink's compression % bar is sometimes inacurate

Hi,

Since this a very subjective question I always recommend getting some rewritables and do a bit of experimenting to see what works for your personal tastes and equipment :)

Personally, when it hits 80% or lower I'll use Deep Analysis :)

Hi,

When you have a disc loaded in Shrink, under the Compression Settings tab on the right it will list a compression percentage under the Video section with a slider right by it :)

Hi all. :)

canucker, I'm usually making my backups with DVD Shrink in "Low Priority" mode.
That enables me to use my computer smoothly while Deep Analysis and/or transcoding is done in the background.

I do Deep Analysis for all my backups but the ones not requiring compression. ;)
