True, there is an issue that does need resolving.
However this does provide a way to prevent Nero from locking up and gives the user an option that certainly works (in my case at least).
I have not sat down to look at the problem in detail, but it is a 'temporary' fix. At the moment I don't need or use the plugins on a daily basis and if I do, I can restore them.

I too have the problem of Nero Express and NeroVision Express, and any Nero burning program in Nero Ultra 6 for that matter hanging as soon as I launch the program.
I tried all of the solutions in this thread, but none work. When running the task manager and opening a Nero operation, Nero.exe is the only new task to appear, so I cannot manually stop the other named tasks.
Uninstalling and reinstalling worked the first few times, but now a reinstall does not fix the problem. I do not have a similar problem with any other program. I paid $100 for a program I can't even run.

I emailed Nero's customer service about this, telling them that I had tried everything I found on their website and nothing worked.
Their reply: "Check our website for help."

I fixed the problem, but it was very expensive. I went out and bought a new MoBo an CPU.
I had a Soyo Board with a P4 2.4ghz.
Now I have an ECS board with a P4 3.2ghz and it works.
Go figure.

Hi Folks,
The servers are always very busy when a new update is released, the most I could squeeze out of their bandwidth was 23KB/sec, please be patient.
If the previous version worked for you, and you dont really need to update, then you could always go back to the older version. Don't forget to use the clean tool if you do. That said, there are a lot of fixes in this release.
I have only downloaded the latest package 1 (more on that in a sec) VisionExpress2 works fine for me and I dont use InCD or the Mediaplayer simply because I dont need a packet writer and there are better media players available (Sorry Ahead, but its true) check out videolan.org It will play just about anything I throw at it.
Anyway, back to 6.6.0.1
Ran perfectly well first time, no RMADEC (real media audio plugin I think) or SELFDEL, so the problem is either in another package, or still with the third party plugins.

No offense taken Avneet23. I wish anyone could make a problem free software. :-)
This issue is still being looked into by our Engineers. The push to release Nero 6.6 caused us to have to put this issue to the side, as it seemed a number of users were having success with the last update. But we have not closed the bug till we can confirm with our own testing that its resolved, which we have not. But we are seeing and hereing less and less about this issue, so something has improved.

I think this well-known bug by now has become quite a scandal.
All releases of Nero 6, from 6.0.0.1 onwards, have had their problems with recognising ATAPI components.
It may well be some incompatibility with Promise drivers (I use a Gigabyte 7-DXR+ mainboard with embedded Promise, 3 HDDs in RAID arrays, plus a Delta DVD-ROM and Artec WRR4848 CD-RW on conventional IDE controllers).
The drivers in my system are all updated to the latest versions, so that shouldn't be an issue.
But now, Nero 6.6 turns out to have another incompatibility: when the firmware of the Artec CD-RW is upgraded to version 1.07 it is no longer recognised by Nero and I have to downgrade back to firmware version 1.00.
Isn't it about time Nero comes up with a solution?

For those of you who are not using a USB External drive, are you still running into this 'SCSI Command Error'?
I've been doing some thorough testing with Nero 6.6.01 and I have not been able to duplicate this issue any longer.
P.S. For USB drives, there is a seperate isssue and all appearances seem to be pointing to USB drivers or the BridgeBoard used in the External units. We are still looking into this.

i've had this problem with Win 2k3 but it only appeared after adding a few Nero plug-ins, my simple fix was to just compile an empty win project [an exe that does sod all] copy it to the Nero folder over RMADEC.exe and SELFDEL.exe, and finally make it read only.
No problems so far, but haven't tried any Real Media Audio files so I don't know if that still works [I'm guessing its essentially RealMediaAudioDECoder.EXE]

Hello folks. Some interesting posts here. I had the same problem with a fresh installed 6.6.0.1 on XP Pro SP2. Found that if i moved out the file nxMyReal.dll in the Nero folder, things got better. Dont know if this is the problem with everyone but it worked for me.

First at/of all, i have to excuse myself for my awfull english.
And here we go.
I've encountered the same problem.
Usually the taskmanager shows 2 times selfdel.exe and 1 times rmadec.exe after killing rmadec.exe an additional selfdel.exe is created. Finishing rmadec.exe gets Nero working. Because i didnt like tasks i didnt knew what they do, i kill those selfdel.exe entries too.
After removing nxmyreal.dll Nero starts _but_ selfdel.exe is still found 2 times by using the taskmanager.
Last versions which didnt come up with this issue are below 6.x
