Hi all,

Can someone help me interpret this log please? I've been burning with the same media for years with no issue - but now, it won't burn anything to dvd-r. As a side note, I got another write error when trying to go to Nero's image recorder. I've uninstalled / reinstalled - but with no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

If you get this same write error when you are trying to write to the Nero ImageRecorder, then media is not your issue.

The only item that stands out in your Nero log file is that you have two devices that you do not have DMA enabled for. I would recommend enabling DMA for those drives and see if this resolves your issue.

Craig

Princo discs are not the best. It's very possible to get bad ones.

You look like you are a bit low on RAM as well...51Mb free.

Thanks Craig & fasfrank,

I'll bump up the pagefile settings to test for the ram idea.
In regards to DMA - it is enabled for the 4040 burner - but is off on the "regular" cd drive, and for the "virtual" AXV drive. I'll try enabling for the cd drive (& check if it is possible to do the same for the virtual drive).
As Craig noted - I don't think it's the media, as the image recorder also wouldn't work, that's why I was suspicious of it just being the usual suspects of bad media, and was wondering if this is a symptom of something else on my box....

Any other ideas?

Thanks again!

I would like to see the log file from a failed write to the ImageRecorder, to see if the error message reported is different.

And I doubt the DMA is an issue, but it's best to enable it for the devices anyway. And you never know. :-)

Did you check to see if you have the latest firmware for your model recorder?

Did you install any other programs recently? The main problem a lot of users are running into is with SP2.

Craig

When I installed SP2 & clicked on my Nero icon I got a message saying there are issues with Nero & SP2. Don't know what version is affected. That could be a problem.

Craig,

- thanks for the idea about the ImageRecoder log - I'll do that when I get home later :-)
Firmware is A302 - still current (& no issues before)Anything new? - well, no SP2, but I did install Pinnacle Studio, which I noticed showed up in the Infotool log. Maybe I'll strip that off as well & re-try.

Anything else "known" that may cause this problem?

thanks again!

Well, I've not had any troubles with Pinnacle's software on my systems, but each system is different so I can not say they never have trouble with each other. :-)

Maybe once I see the log file from the failed write to the Image Recorder, I would have more insight.

As for XP's SP2, the only issues we are aware of from our testing in regards to compatibility issues with SP2 are:

1) Installer error on 64bit machine and 32bit OS with SP2 RC2
2) WMA error on WinXP SP2
3) Integration of ImagXpress library v7 in Cover Designer/NBR/NE/NeroAPI/Nero StartSmart
4) Integration of ImagXpress library v7 in NVE
5) NeroMix 1.4.0.21 and Windows XP SP2, after clicking on "visualiser" with Data Execution Prevention (also called DEP, No Execute, or NX) enabled, the "plug-in loading error" is thrown

But all these issues have been addressed with our latest releases. So far, nothing new as come up that we can confirm.

Craig

Hi again Craig,

Well, so far I have:
- allow XP to set the size of the pagefile
- made sure DMA was set for both the dvd writer & cdrom drive
- uninstalled all other burning software (Pinnacle, etc)
- uninstalled virtual disk software
- updated the firmware on the LG burner to the newest A304.
- used force aspi to re-install the aspi layer
- tried different media.

Now I get two different error messages! woohoo! - I still get the "write error", but now in Recode I get "unexpected exception" - right after Recode asks for the blank dvd to burn (one dvd reader/burner system), I insert it, it recognizes it, but Recode gets "stuck" on the "Creating Directories" phase. I'll put the error log in following.
The strange thing is - that once Recode has failed - if I rename the directory where Recode writes its files to on the H/D so the files are not deleted when I exit Recode & then use Nero Burning Rom to burn these files to the exact same dvd that "failed" in Recode - about 9 out of 10 times it is a success! (Yes, I still get the write error, but not as frequently)

Here's the "unexpected exception" log...
I hope you can help!

Thanks!

Hi Healey,

This bytes the big one. I can not see any obvious reason as to why it would fail, and this is to the ImageRecorder, which really throws me for a loop. :-(

This occurs no matter what source file you use?

Can you run the Nero InfoTool and post it's results on the forum so I can see if there is anything it can provide in helping to debug this issue?

After you uninstalled the Pinnacle software, did you run our DriverClean Tool, and Registry Checker program to make sure nothing was left behind? If not, give it a try. We have this posted on our website under Support->Utilites->Clean Tools

Regards,

Craig
