I've never used Gold but Platinum wiil copy DVD's exact too. But if you're looking to buy a DVD copying program I would strongly suggest NOT buying any X Copy products. Get DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Their free and better than X Copy.

Windows XP SP2
Intel P4 2.8 GHz
2048MB DDR-RAM
120GB Seagate SATA
ATI Radeon X850 XT
Plextor PX-716A DVD+-R(DL)
Sony CRX-320A CD-RW/DVD-ROM

Seconded. None of the DVDXCOPY products can compare (except poorly) to DVDDecrypter / Shrink. Or the DVD Rebuilder products.
Don't waste your money (like I and many others did) on Anything related to the DVDXCOPY products.

Also X Copy programs are getting harder and harder to activate. I wouldn't be surprised is USA owners are soon locked out completely.

Yes, I myself am wondering what US users are to do about activations. I hear Cananda might be helping US users again, but haven't confirmed it.

If you must buy something, buy AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. If bought together it's $65 US.

Or get the free stuff, can't go wrong with em :)

I own X copy Express ver.321. I purchased it with my 1st burner before finding AD. I reformated just before the company shut down and reinstalled Express. It did activate at that time. Not sure what will happen next time. I don't believe in free-hacked software, keygens, or free serial numbers. But since I paid for the software, I will find a way to activate it if needed. My daughter and son-in-law are both programmers and if need be I'm sure they could re-write the CD without the activation process. I'm not too worried about it because I don't really use it but I get mad every time I think about the money I paid out for it when there were better FREE ways of doing the same thing. I guess we all live and learn.

i think you guys that are using platinum or gold will find that since there hasnt really been any progress with those programs of late thay they are being superceeded by the programs that are still out which are still getting upgrades and improvements made to them. Why not give CloneDVD 2 from elaborate bytes a go,you may be surprised by the quality that you get.I would say that they equal platinum or may be better in some cases. (just my thought)

replies welcome

I too was fooled into buting Platinum and RF version. But why go to the trouble of removing all the blacklisted software just to use one that in obsolete. All the Dvd's I did with Platium came out with the motion in the copy speeded up and jerky. Now thanks to a reboot, I can not reactive.
Shrink and Decrypter rule the free market. Besides, I am still not convinced that something I have to pay for will do so much better to justify the exspense.

I like my platinum & have just started to experiment with shrink. I have burned hundreds of dvds with platinum & no problems, I pretty much expect the same with shrink. I just use the software which tickles my fancy at the time! (I must admit I prefer platinum - at present - to shrink). I have had no quality issues with platinum, or with shrink. You can argue which is best & end up like 2 6yr old boys fighting over whose dad is bigger than whose! I prefer to experiment with what is out there & treat every dvd like a challenge. And expect the unexpected!

I have both 321 gold and platinum: The worse rip-off ever foisted upon the public. The app is coded poorly, and does not conform to MS Windows criteria.
Save your monies, sanity and retire from the coaster biz. I use Nero 6.x / DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink.
I can not remember the last time I used 321..

i think you will find that platinum was actually quite a good application that gave superb results, however CloneDVD ver 2 gives platinum a run for its money. The only difference is the company that made clone is still in business and 321 is now no more

After reading about the activation problems people were having, I installed GamesXcopy onto my second Hard drive & tried to activate. Which it did. I can only assume that I could also activate Platinum (I don't want to flatten my first hard drive just in case it doesn't activate for some unknown reason!) I live in the U.K., I'm not sure where the people live who are having problems. I would be really pissed off if I couldn't activate after a routine flatten. I really like this software 'cos of its' ease of use & it will be a real shame not to be able to use it in the future. Having said that, I have 2 dual layer burners in my PC & it is only a matter of time before the price of DL media falls to a reasonable level, so Platinum will then become completely redundant. It was good for me while it lasted! Roll on Blu-Ray.....
