Panasonic shows on their website a newer firmware with all the applicable installations instructions.
Have a look at:-
http://panasonic.co.jp/mke/support/dvdram/lim/eoem/a127d321w2.html
Your Nero log indicates ""Required file 'VTS_01_1.VOB' is not present "" -- and then shuts down.
When you post a Nero Log -- always remove YOUR personal serial number !! Thats that long serial number on the second line of your LOG -- Edit your post please.

hi benhayes, First thing to do is edit that Nero log and remove your serial number or everyone will be using it.
A CRC error usually means the original is dirty, damaged or scratched, or the data on the disc is corrupt. Try cleaning the original good and check for damage.

When you decrypt your movie first try DVDDECRYPTER because sometimes DVD Shrink will not decrypt the movie and I find when this happens DVDDECRYPTER will and then use DVD Shrink to shrink it too size and burn it. This works for me everytime.

I have also had this missing file problem before. I used SmartRipper to get around it. Select a target folder, and then use the "Backup" option (it is the gold disc on a tab).

He says it works if he uses his burner to read and write, must be a bad/misconfigured reader.

@MysticE ... thanks for the clarification. I had a little trouble following the info in the post. I personally use a burner to read to avoid this kind of problem, but I do know others who've bought a top of the line DVD ROM to read with. This is a common problem with the older ROM drives, though.

Check your setup, you maybe receiving data collisions.
Connect your reader and writer to their own IDE channels.
eg.dvdrom Primary slave, dvd burner Secondary Master.
Increase your RAM size
Use quality media.
It sounds like you are encountering buffer underuns and poor media...................

Can i just suggest that from my experience, datawrite are rather poor quality, a few of my friends have had problems with them also. Ritec in my opinion are the best on the market, i've never had any problems with them!
