DVD X Copy error code 02062800 "Medium Change"

I have used DVD X Copy Gold before quite successfully. Now suddenly I am generating consistent errors after what appears to be a successful "read" of the first side of "Animal House".

Then (in Advanced Mode: full listing) I see the message "Blank 12cm recordable disc found in unit number 0. Creating WD.IDENT.TXT on hard drive. Initializing writing of Disc. Please wait."

This message stays up for roughly 10 minutes with no apparent activity either by the hard drive or DVD drive. Then I get this in the "Burn Status" log window: Unable to send DVD manufacturing data. Writing Track 1 to the recorder. 2053968 frames of size 2048. Track 1=4011mb. 1922 Frames of size2048 written."

Then I get a DVD X Copy error message: "Write Operationg was not successfull. Medium Change reported by DVD recorder. Drive error code 02062800h. The disc was not successfully recorded.

I have tried this with 2 Maxell discs and it keeps happening. I am using an HP DVD Movie Writer dc4000, an excellent USB DVD burner w/built in tuner. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite w/ a Pentium 4 2.80GHz processor. There is 18 Gig free on my hard drive. I am not running any other applications or using the computer when I am trying to backup/burn DVDs.

Can anyone shed some light on how to resolve this problem?
