Hello. I have an USB 2.0 NEC Dual/double layer burner. ND-2510A
I am using Ridata 8/. +R media.
Pentium 4 2.26Ghz 1Gig ram 200Gig HD
WinXP

I have tried with Dvd Decrypter 3.5.x.x, Nero 6.3.1.20, Copy to Dvd 3.x the latest...\and all of them will NOT burn. They go ahead and get ready, stating "burning Layer 1" then I get an error message about "llegal"or "invalid media" or " invalid format".

Ive tried withcopy ing disc, making an ISO, but every time it goes to burn, it stops. I have tried other Ridata dual layer discs with the same result.

Is it the actual drive or firmware? If it is the firmware, is it worth updating(and is this easy to do) or should I just go get another burner AND/or a different brand burner?

Thanks in advance, this intelligence inhere is remarkable!

Doesn't Ritek (Ridata) only make one dual layer disc?

I guess I should ask what your steps are with all the programs your using? With Decrypter, it should be just rip in ISO mode, burn in ISO mode.

Ridata does make dual layer. Sold in singles only though.
I have had great success with their single layer media.
Ok so for when Im use Decrypter, I rip in ISO Read mode. It makes the ISO files. The ISO is 7.55 Gig in size and a MDS file that is 4.21k in size.
After that I go to the Write ISO in decrypter. I load the MDS file (also have tried to load the ISO as well with the same result).
I go to burn and is states

I/O Error
Cannot write Medium - Incompatible Format

Below is the Info in the box about my drive that Decrypter lists
