Need help with Nero "Not Responding"

Ok, I did a search and I saw about 2 topics that where kinda related to mine. Forgive me for starting a new one, but the other topics didnt quite help me out.

Anyways, I just about an Artec Artec 12X DVD+/-RW Drive, Model VOM-12E48X. It came with OEM Nero. So anyways, I installed it. I was sucessfull in burning a DVD+R the first time. But now, when i try to burn anything on a CD-R like a few movies on VCD, Nero seems to get stuck. So i try to shut it down and it wont shut down. It becomes "Not responding". Its so bad that any program that I try to shut down does not respond either. I have to do a Hard Shut Down. Its becoming a pain in the ass.

Ive tried burning VCD, SCVD on a CD-R and it gets stuck. Ive updated to Nero 6 latest version, same crap, it keeps getting stuck and not responding requiring a hard shut down. If anyone can help me out I would be very grateful.

My comp specs are
2500+ AMD proc
768 MB DDR ram
40 GB HD
Artec DVD+/-RW burner
and using Nero version 6

Edit:

I also want to add that Ive tried Mr.Tazz's .bat nero file with no avail. :(

Have you tried a complete reinstall of Nero?

Do you have Roxio Easy CD/DVD Creator installed?

Yes, ive done a complete reinstall of Nero using the clean tools aswell.

Yes, I have defragged lately.

Ive noticed the problem being that I can burn on DVD+R's but not on a CD-R or CD-RW's....wonder whats up with that. Thats weird.

You didn't happen to erase a cd-rw with XP's Imapi software did you?

It can read CD's because the Nero package I got which was OEM came with the drive. It worked fine installing it.

No I dont have Roxio

No, I dont believe I erased anything with WinXP Imapi software. I havent touched XP's tools to burn anything.

I just bought the drive like 2 days ago in hopes to burn some DVD's CD-R's and Make some SVCD's and VCD's.
