I have tried several brands of media, but have not changed the writer, Pioneer A106. I asked in a computer shop who said that there may have been a patch automatically loaded from Microsoft which prevents DVD's being copied. None of the ones I am burning are proteted so I am at a loss.
I have checked all software and Firmware which seem to be OK.
I have several loaded to my pc - Nero, Shrink, Veritas, Decrypter. Should I take them all out and re-install just one or two of them?
Try using only the Pioneer drive for the complete process. Burning on the fly usually causes buffer under runs. Since the dvd's are not encrypted, just use the Nero disc copy feature in the dvd section. Let Nero copy it to the HD and then insert a blank disc when it tells you too. Less chance of burn errors this way also.
I will try that when I get home. I have tried that way with Shrink and Veritas to prove the DVD rom wasn't faulty, but haven't tried Nero.
Thanks mate. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
Managed to burn to and from the Pioneer drive. However as the disc burned to 100%, it did not write the lead out track. This would explain why they will not play, but does anyone know how to fix this?
The lead out problem could possibly be a file size to blank media problem. Total file size can't be larger than 4.36gig to fit a blank disc. If using Shrink to compress a movie, set the target size to 4300 instead of auto. That might help.
I have adjusted the size in shrink and Nero and a few have burned. However, I am only burning 10%, the rest all say perfect burn but either will not play or play the opening intro to the film menu then hang or crash. There must be something easy to fix this, surely????
