NEC DVD-RW 2500A HELPPP

i have a NEC DVD-RW 2500A.. bought it a couple of months ago and when i got it i flashed it to NO REGION and it worked fine... Now i heard that you can flash it so it can burn Dual Layer DVD's without havinbg to throw it in the trash and buy a new one... Can someone please tell me where to find the files to do this and HOW TO?

also can please tell if this will affect the ability of burning normal dvds?

That firmware you are talking about is not a good idea. About half the drives it is used on won't work afterwards. So its a 50-50 chance it will kill your drive . I haven't read of any fixes to get it back to normal either.
