I just built a computer with all sorts of nForce 2 good stuff, a SATA hard drive, and Windows XP is totally not liking the system. I thought it was from installing SP2, but after two complete Windows re-installs without SP2, my audio is still shot. Most importantly, I can't play any mp3's without getting terrible distortion of nothing but the drums. I've tried everything. I checked the sound card and speakers, that's not it. I messed with the audio codecs and drivers, they're working just fine. I have no idea where to turn.

Another thing is that audio CDs play just perfectly, but as soon as I rip mp3's from them, they're terrible, unless they're 320. What happened to the decentness of a 128 sound? I'm not getting it at all. On top of that, all windows sounds and WMA files sound just fine.

Can someone tell me what to do? I'm feeling completely screwed here.
