Help! Pioneer dvr-105 won't read any media

Hi all,

I have already upgraded to the latest legit firmware.
and that was after I uninstalled and reinstalled the drive.

I used to could play cdrom's and dvd's from my pioneer
dvr-105 drive but now whenever I put a disk in the drive I get "Please insert a disk into drive E"
that happens when I go to my computer and click on drive E when I have a disk in the drive.
I hope my drive has not gone kaput!
If you guys have any suggestions (I hope its a simple thing) I would greatly appreciate your help.
