i have a lite on LDW-411S and I just installed it into my new Dell Comp. I also just updated the firmware from FSOJ to FSOK.

For some reason, when I burn a DVD, it takes 45+ minutes and the light on the drive binks from yellow to red during the entire burn.

On my old Comp, it took 20 min and the light was red for the entire burn.

Using the same media and the Same secondary HD to store my data. New comp is P4 3.0GHz, 800MHz fsb. DVD drives are both running CS.

Could it be the firmware? Any other suggestions?

Let's not multipost anymore shall we? There's a link to the forum rules in my sig, I suggest you take a look at them.

Sorry about that. I didn't think that would be considered a multi-post. Did I ask the same question twice?

Also, the link you gave in the other post doesn't have the FS0J firmware for download. I found that many places have the link to the liteon firmware site but liteon doesn't have the firmware for download. I was asking if anyone knew where to find it or if anyone has it that could send it to me.

Both threads related the the same basic problem with your Litey.

Here's a link to a binary version of FSOJ:

As I understand it you need to use "LtnFW" to use the binary version:

OK, I checked out the links. I downdated the firmware back to FS0J and I am still having trouble.

Any other ideas about what the problem could be?

I am using Record Now DX and it says it should be burning at 4x like it did on my old comp but it looks to me like it's burning at 1.5x-2x speed. It flashes from red to yellow repetitively which I take as it burning little bits at a time. That would explain the long times. It will burn a good disk, it just takes too long. It must e something with my Comp.

Thanks.

You may not have DMA enabled. Try these instructions:
