Pioneer Black DVD+RW/-RW Drive, Model DVR-108, OEM

Model# DVR-108
Item # N82E16827129157

That's the one, whenever I push the button, it opens and automatically closes!

I already updated the firmware.

Please help!

Why did you upgrade the firmware?
This may invalidate the warranty if it is faulty.

Go inside your PC, and disconnect the IDE cable to
it, BUT leave the 4 way power plug connected to it.
Now just boot up into the BIOS.
Press the open button on your burner, does it open and does it remain open?

If it doesn't remain open then your burner is faulty.

If it remains open then it seems you have an issue within windows.
Power down and reconnect everything and reboot.
Try it again - good or bad?
Uninstall the burner in device manager and reboot, let windows reinstall it - is it fixed?

Well, I have already burnt a couple of DVDs on it, so I dunno if its faulty or not.

How did you get the disc in?

I have visions of you standing by the PC, with dvd in hand, then suddenly lurch to the open button and ramming that disc in before it closes.......LOL.

Have you tried any of the suggestions anyway?

I had to huck the disc on the tray at the speed of light.

I tried some, still shuts in BIOS.

Is that without the IDE connector plugged in and the power plug still plugged in?

If so then the problem lies locally within the burner.
Could be the open switch failing, or a bad flash of the firmware or even that the tray is not opening fully......
