I have problems burning DVDs with following procedure with which i have done 15 movies succesful so far: (1)smartripper: all files (2)ifo edit to strip movie only (3)rempeg to shrink the videostream (4)remux the newstream with ifoedit (5)nero to burn.
-----------------------------------
in (1)and(2) i have ripped starwars AOTC. IT works perfectly. in (3) i calculated to shrink the stream to 73%. result is not ok, the starwars intro appears in english and french?? switching annoyingly between the two... if remux (4) with the new file the result is very bad! audio & video synch problems.
When I try not to shrink the stream but to split to two cd's (after step2) my ifo edit hangs my xp machine after several time.
----------------------------------------
Who has done Starwars AOTC with rempeg and how did you do it? i prefer to put the movies on 1 dvd+R. Help me obi wan kenobi your my only hope!

I have managed to rip SWEP2 using DVD2AVI, Chapter Extractor & Tmpgenc - no problems whatsoever. The next thing I am working on is to keep all the original menus and still keep everything on 1 disc..I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers.

I'm curious to know if you stripped the language units in IFOedit.

I haven't done the clones yet, but for the phantom menace, using IFOEDIT to strip multiple angles did the trick.

This problem occurs when you have a multi-angle movie with additional angles containing screen text in different languages. For instance, on your disk, angle 1 contains scenes with text in english and angle 2 contains them in french. The solution is to use IFO Edit to strip out all angles except for angle 1. This will bring you to the 'Strip VOB IDs' screen, where the vob ID's containing the angles that you want to strip already de-selected. This will solve your problem.

If it's twitching while text is displayed on the video, then yes. If the film is just alltogether twitchy, there are other issues. I would definitely learn to use something other than ReMPEG. It seems tough at first, but goof with it for awhile and you'll be glad you did. The results are far superior and consistent with CCE or TMPG (or even LSX).

Hey, Shadow. First off, test your dvd build before you burn it to disk. :-) Next, play the disk from your DVD drive first to see if it's jerky to start with. To see if it has multiple angles, rip it to your hard drive and load the main movie ifo into ifo edit. Scroll down to where ifo edit displays all the chapter / cell information. It looks like this:

PGC_1 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 1 [blah blah
[ch 01][pg 01][cell 01][v/c id:2/1 blah blah.

Now look at the cells. if it's a multi-angle movie, you'll see multiple cells that start and end at the exact same time. they will have their angle number written next to them.

If none of this is the answer, the only other things that i know can cause twitchiness on a regular basis are remuxing an m2v made with cce in ifo edit OR using rempeg (sometimes twitchy).

so what ur sayin is if its mulitple angles i should open ifoedit and strip the vob ids and check mark remove angles and them from the stripped vobs reencode the movie then cause ivge used cce and ifoedit for 15 movies and these 3 are only giving me problems

Correct. When you select 'remove angles' in ifo edit it will automatically check the 'strip vob ids' box for you. When it pulls up the page with all the vob id's on it, it will have unchecked the ones containing the angles you don't want. Strange that these are giving you so much trouble. How do the movies look when you play them straight from the disk?

You still haven't told me what the disks look like when you play them directly. How is the quality straight from the disk?

I have Put episode 2 in IFOedit and made it on angle 1. But its still doesn't play. Forget that I can't even play the fully Ripped DVD on my HD.
Thats all i ask. I just want to play the DVD on my HD. But when I do I either get a: When playing it in DVD Mode(opening the IFO) I get a Region error and I have already tried making it Region Free with Ifoedit. And when I play the VOB files I start out with the FOX Century LOGO which plays fine and then it shows an EVIL George Lucas LOGO and then it shows some Text and then all hell breaks loose. It starts showing it in frech and then in english and then in french again. Then when thats done I just get Stuttery picture the whole rest of the movie.

Any help on how to get the mOvie to play WOUld be much apprciated..

Insite when you play Episode 2 from the disk it plays perfectly fine just like a real DVD. But once
you get it to the HD then Evil George Lucas uses his encrypting/anti-pirating technology to make it Impossible for someone to play it. It just drives me nuts. I tried Zoomplayer to play any of the VOB's and none of them played normally. They all stuttered and where pieces of SHIT.

clueless, you must do something wrong.;-)... If you rip using my method it will work(see start of thread). [it works from harddisk perfectly.] after your have stripped the movie (step 2), you should the do another strip with ifo edit where you remove the angle. In the vobselecting screen you deselect vob ID3 (the french title). The result is an AOTC which works perfect from HD (no french/english flipping). (== 4 this last step: thank you insite ==). I am now working on the rempeg thing to fit it all on one DVD+R..... almost there...almost there...... good luck young padawan.

try ripping the disk as an iso image with dvd decryptor. Then, expand the iso with winrar. See if that works.

I have successfully ripped, demuxed, transcoded and re-authored SWEP2:AOTC to a 1 +RW disc and it plays smoothly on my Pioneer.

BUT (didn't you know that was coming) I forgot about the subtitles! Not the whole subtitle track I mean, but the necessary ones when the aliens are speaking etc (such as when Dooko is conferring with his allies).
Do you know where exactly these are in the DVD fileset? How do I get at these specific subtitles?
I tried to follow this guide:
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdr-guides.htm
but ended up with the whole english subtitle track (1324 bmp files).
Apparently there are only thirty or so subtitles I need - can you help in locating and extracting them? I author in Maestro by the way.

Any help you or others can give would be a big help. Thanks much.

I have a similar problem. I have stripped out the VOB IDs with the French and Spanish (ID 2&3)and the results plays perfectly on my computer from the burned disc. However, if I play the disc on my DVD standalone, the movie skips several times through the beginning part of the movie (which used to have the 3 langauges but now just shows the English). It also hangs once in this section. After it gets past this section of the movie everything works fine. Any suggestions?
