Hi all.

Been trying to backup the DVD "The Shape of Things"
whenever I try to open it with DVDShrink I get the error "DVDShrink encountered an Error and cannot continue. Failed to read file E:\ - Copy Protection Error - the read failed because the sector is encrypted."

I remember reading about a new copy protection by using special crippled discs...is this it?

Does anyone have any idea how the hell I can copy it?
DVDDecrypter rips the files without complaining, but the output is garbled and unplayable.

Thanks
Craggs.

If you get the copyright error, the only way I found around it, Is to use the Re-Author tab (usally I add just the main title) You lose all the special features of the DVD , But at least you get the main movie.

It is probably just a damaged disc, am downloading AnyDVD and will try it out.

Thanks for the Replies, amigos :)

From experience of 10/wk -Try:
(1)Older version of DVD-shrink 3.17 or 3.16.
(2)Use a name-brand PC dvd player such as Sony.

Yep. Damaged Disc.

Reauthored with DVD Shrink - had to remove the menu's but everything else was cool.

It's a good, but strange film as well!

I notice the copyright error with some new releases, mostly rentals.I use 3.16 - 3.17 & 3.2 I hate to have to reauthor & get just the main title. It's the movie companies way of screwin' with the DVD burning community.
