I am creating dvd's from .mpg files I have been downloading, and my problem is by the time they are burnt on dvd, the audio is noticably worse. Here are the steps I'm taking:
First I convert my file to correct dvd format using TMPGEnc....There is slight audio loss after that. Then, I use DVDit PE to create menus, and burn the dvd. After that, the audio is even worse.
I've heard of splitting the audio from the video right from the beginning, but I'm not sure how to do that. Also, how do I get the audio and video files back togethor on the DVD? Can anyone help!? Thanks!

Create a WAV audio (48Khz, 16bits PCM) via tmpgenc (or whatever), then import the video and audio (wav) files into DVDit.

Then, after you create the menu objects in DVDit by dragging the video resource onto the menu, also drag the audio into the same menu object. The menu properties should show that the wav file is the audio stream now.

PS: Use PCM audio in DVDit if you're picky with the audio. Should cut down on the authoring time as well. AC3 takes a long time to encode.
