Pioneer DVR-108 setup help!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!

I have a NEW Pioneer DVR-108 and went to backup a new original unscratched DVD with DVD Decrypter and before it even appeared to begin reading the disc it popped up an I/O error.
The error said (sorry I am not sure how to post the copy of the window so I'm just gonna write it):

I/O Error!

Device[1:0:0] Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108 1.10 (E:)(ATA)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 28 00 00 00 03 9E 00 00 01 00
Interpretation: Read(10)- Sector:926

Sense Area: 70 00 04 00 00 00 00 0E 00 00 00 00 08 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Logical Unit Communication CRC Error (Ultra-DMA/32)

Also I tried to back it up with DVD shrink and it also popped up an error:

DVD Shrink ecnountered and error and cannot continue,

Invalid DVD navigation structure

I have no idea what that means. I am slowly but surely learning more of the techie stuff so if you could try and put that into newbie terms it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have tried different brands of media and different DVD's to backup but still no luck!!!! I am waiting to get my first back-up!!
