4.1 support- Diamond Multimedia MX400 sound card

Sup,
I recently tried the Diamond Multimedia MX400 sound card on my speaker system and i could get only get 2 speakers working with the sub. Before this, i tried another sound card that had 4.1 support, but the same thing happened. I tried a few nicks here and there, and did changes to the speaker/sound setup in XP, setting it to Surround Sound, instead of desktop or whatever, and still no 4.1 sound!. Im getting very frustrated as to what to do next, could someone please help me!! Any response would be greatly appreciated!!

I am trying to run all 4 speakers, including the sub.

I can hear static from the rear speakers, this was not possible before, but still no sound. When it was booting up, all of a sudden you could hear noise comming from the rear, wow. This never happened before. But i still dont understand why no sound is coming.

switch speakers, front to back & vice versa. how many connectors besides game port on card
