Any advice on the most user-friendly/most complete software to go from cd to mp3. I would like to put some of my cd from my bought cd collection onto cdr's as mp3. I tried copying with Windows M player but I can't pick them up with nero.

Try dbpower amp: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ . It comes with a audio file converter and a cd-ripper that isn't half bad. Plus you can download just about every codec you will ever need from there web site ( dbpower amp codec download page: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm )too!

Tough to beat CDex (and LAME):
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_software/cd-da_extractors/cdex.cfm
Once CDex is installed, you can keep up to date with the current LAME codec by copying the latest lame_enc.dll into the CDex directory:
