What audio format is a PS2 RCF file (PS2 game audio file)? And, can it be converted to MP3 format somehow?
What I want to do is take the music from one of my PS2 games and play it on my iPod. Now, I can't just record the music from the PS2 into the PC soundcard as that would also include all the sound effects (such as "Urgh!" And, "Arrrrrrrrgh!" - I'm sure you get the idea)
I did find somewhere that Rhapsody Audiogalaxy - http://www.listen.com/ - uses the RCF file format for playlists. But, when you actually get round to installing and examining Rhapsody, you find that it is basically a streaming audio player. Not much use for a file on my system..!
I suspect/would guess that the quality of this particular audio file is 44,100hz (CD quality) and stereo, but in that very same file would be several music tracks (probably 3 or 4 minutes long each), and a fair few sound effects. This file is 71Mb, so if it were an MP3 @ 128kb it'd be around an 80ish minute CD - I'm trying not to think in terms of MP3, but I keep drifting towards that... I realise that this RCF file may not be compressed anywhere as close as MP3, and may be more like a bloody WAV... or, perhaps it's more squashed than a frog in the middle of a road... who knows, eh!?
The reason I want to listen to the music from this game is, well.. I've spent £40 on the damned thing, and now it's a coaster for my cups of tea (or may aswell be) - because if you take a used game back to a shop, you get a couple of beans in exchange... it's not worth it! Besides, I like the music.

The program you want is MFAudio. Open it up and then open up the file off the PS2 Disc. You may need to change the frequency. If the frequency is off, it may play too slowly or too fast. So just change between: 11025, 22050, 44100, etc. Then just save it as an uncompressed WAV and burn it to a CD-R.
