I assume you are trying to 'rip' a commercial disc.
That fault normally points to a couple of problems:
1. Bad/corrupted data on the source disc.
2. Dirty/scratched area on the disc.
3. Possible bad compatibility with the media and your reader - only usually applicable on non-commercial dvd's.
Try and obtain another copy of it and retry...............
- i'm only trying to copy a disc that has stuff recorded from vhs on it.
seems odd that ripping 'original' dvds is not a problem, and yet one with england v argentina on it copied over from vhs, is presenting such a issue...
Certain disks like the brand "Imitation" will not copy from a copy. I have Imitation brand copies of movies and my brother wanted me to copy them for him and they would not copy. I had to go and either buy the movie or rent the movie in order to copy the. I hope this helps, if not, contact the disk brand manufactuer for help.
cheers for the thoughts, but i can't believe that all Imation discs would present this problem - i can extract the individual VOB files from the dvd, but not copy the dvd as usual - perhaps its something to do with the way the philips machine burns dvds?
