im getting ready to buy a pre-modded version 10 ps2 with a [DMS3]from x-modd & need to know if i can use memorex dvd+r to back up & play on this unit. i dont think i can use dvd-r in my burner, i ordered my pc from dell & the dvd burner also as a package. the unit i have is the 4600i. i have 512mb, & a 80g hard drive

they should work fine (the -r version of memorex are not very good, but the +r are fine).

So are the memorex -r the only ones that are realy made by other companies, and the +r are always good to buy? Last 30 I bought of the -r none of them worked for games or movies, BUT the 30 before that did. Are you saying all the +r will work?

the +r are also made by other companies, but usually are a little better than the -r. Just buy some ritek and you won't have anything to worry about (they are also cheaper).

then you got lucky. every batch of memorex i bought were cmc magnetics (one of the worst brands).

I just took some Memorex DVD +R back to the store because I kept getting eror messages during the burn. This happen on 5 consecutive disc with not one success. I bought TDK +R from Staples today and the very 1st one burned without any problem. I can't say that they all will be good but right now I am at 100% instead of 0% success with Memorex.
