i have being trying to burn my downloaded ps2 games but realised that my dvd burner only burns from 4 to 12x

and theres no point even trying it at 4x so is there any way i can get it to burn at 1x without buying a older drive?

You should be fine burning at 4x. Just make sure that you are using 4x media.

will burning at 4x put more stress on my ps2 laser?

i want to get this right before burning any so i dont end up with load of coasters

If you use high quality media, you should be fine.
